Hello! Welcome to our "About Us" Page! We're glad you're here! Below you can find out a little bit more about us and how the blog began!

Britney

Hi, My name is Britney, and I'm just a girl with a heart for Jesus from Michigan. I am passionate about encouraging young women in their walk with God and I know that God has a plan for this space, and I pray that you find encouragement and rest in it. My best friend Hillary and I came together to create this blog and believe it is a place where we could be honest and encourage young women as they grow in their relationship with God. Our prayer is that The Quiet Place will be that place where God meets you right where you are at no matter what you are going through. My favorite verse Joshua 1:9 says it best--"Have I not commanded you, be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go"--Joshua 1:9 (NIV) So with that said, I hope that you will join us in this place of rest and encouragement for your soul.

Hello! My name is Hillary and I am Britney's Best Friend from New York! Britney and I met while attending College in Michigan. God has truly blessed Britney and I with each other. Britney is my Jonathan friend and I hers (1 Samuel 18).  When I'm not blogging, you can find me singing, listening to music, baking, and spending time with friends and family. If I'm not home, you can most definitely find me at church. Something else to know about me is that my family and friends are extremely important to me and I wouldn't trade them for the world. People are my passion and one of the reasons for which I blog, though ultimately I blog to spread the good news of my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

Happy Wednesday! I hope you are all having a good week! Today I am linking up with Jenna and Anne for their currently linkup. You can read my post from last time here . So, here's what I am currently, reading, wishlisting, loving, appreciating, and creating.  Reading: Hebrews, The Nearness of God by Lisa Harper for my womens bible study. It's so good and just love her humor, if you haven't heard of her, she's great! Very similar to Beth Moore.  wishlisting: this mug from Rachel at Oh Simple Thoughts Etsy Shop which you should check out cause her stuff is so cute! Currently Vol. 7

HEARTING:  The new cookbooks and baking books i got for Christmas this year. I made chocolate cupcakes with salted caramel frosting out  of Homemade Decadence by Joy the baker and they were so good!  READING: Catching up on some of my favorite blogs: Oh Simple Thoughts , Wetherills say I Do , and Dearest Love . Also reading the She Reads Truth Esther study.  PINNING: I pinned these cranberry white chocolate oatmeal cookies and i can't wait to make them this weekend! So there may be a recipe on the blog next week!  EATING: I made tomatoe basil soup for my friends and I the other night. It was so good and they loved it as well, which was a plus.  I just finished it yesterday.  ANTICIPATING: Going home for spring break in March, it will be nice to be home for a week. Four Tips for Creating Community through Blogging

1. Reach out to other bloggers:  this is an  essential when wanting to get into community. It can be as small as a comment on their blog, or an email. I have built relationships with other bloggers through email, commenting on their blogs, etc. For me it has been a beneficial thing, to create community in something that I really didn't know there was any.   This is a great post on why bloggers need community.  2. Join a blog group on Facebook, or some other social media group: I have joined the Peony Project on facebook which is a group for other christian bloggers. It's a great group and i would definitely recommend it!  3. Make meaningful comments: when I say meaningful comments I don't mean that you have to write a novel, but at least engage with the post somehow.
