Teachable Moments: Eternal Hope

"But we have this treasure in jars of clay, to show that the surpassing power belongs to God and not to us. We are afflicted in every way, but not crushed; perplexed, but not driven to despair; persecuted, but not forsaken; struck down, but not destroyed." 2 Corinthians 4:7-9  Photo Credit Hillary Read 2 Corinthians 4:1-18   Even in the midst of the darkest circumstances God is good.  That is exactly what this passage tells us. And I love how that last part brings the point home... "Therefore we do not lose heart. Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day.   For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all.   So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen, since what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal." I have learned that even in my darkest places God's hope is there shining through, providin...

Her Worth Is In Him

Founders Note: Today on the blog we have a guest post from Kristin. You can learn more about Kristin in her bio at the end of the post.  Image via unsplash Observe and consider the ravens; for they neither sow nor reap, they have neither storehouse nor barn; and [yet] God feeds them. Of how much more   worth   are you than the birds! --Luke 12:24 (AMP) In my mind's eye, I can still see her. Scrawny and late-blooming. Fair-skinned with a dark "beauty mark" beside her nose. They point and stare and laugh. She feels like crawling into herself. As a newlywed and graduate student, she   tries to feel   comfortable in her own skin. They intimidate and observe and critique. She's old enough to know something, but not old enough to know much. Once a mother, she feels out of her league and once she's no longer "professional," friendship seems hard to come by. Finding her footing in a new role proves challenging and a little painful. Wher...

Its May!

A picture, as I promised :) I can't even begin to describe to you how excited I am that the month of May is finally upon us! This evening I had the great pleasure of looking out my living room windows to the beautiful white silky tree blossoms, green grass for days, and a field of yellow sprouting up across the way. Also, this month is all about Self-Worth. What a great way to enjoy spring by resting in your favorite spot, with a cup of coffee, reading encouraging posts on how much God loves you.  I'd say that sounds like a great way to spend a morning (or afternoon for you late risers ;) ). [And yes, I know, run on sentences. But Spring is pretty great after all. It deserves a couple of extra words don't you think?]  Anyways, I am looking forward to what God has to teach all of us this month about how much he loves us. I am hoping to have a beautiful spring picture to add for May's theme as well. So stay posted! (punny I know) Nev...

Teachable Moments: ALL The Time

God is good ALL the time. Even when it doesn't feel like it.  Sisters, church was SO good today I wish you all could have heard the message. [And now you can! It's up online Here !] God really touched my heart and encouraged me that even though I am going through some tough battles right now he has already given me victory in the war.  I don't know what you have been through, if your life has been fairly easy up to this point or if your life seems like a second case of Job's story. But what I can tell you dear girl, is that the Lord is with you. He has always been with you. Sometimes he doesn't answer us right away, he doesn't always bring us what we ask for even when what we ask for seems like it would line up with his plan for us. The testimony I heard in church today helped me to remember that even when we are trapped in heart-wrenching circumstances, God's hand is there working. I have found that confusing circumstances never make sense ...
