Devotional Monday: A Year Of Devo Monday's

above is a photo from a previous Devotional Monday. It's been a year since we've started the Quiet Place, and God has seriously taken this blog places we never thought it would go. There's truth in saying: his plans are always better than our own. Cause sisters they always are, this blog is proof of that. Also its been a year since I started Devotional Monday, when i first started this little devo, I hoped it would be a place where you get a little encouragement at the beginning of your week. Turns out, it's also encouraged me, i've shared my heart, my struggles, and everything else. It's been good. I started out in January talking about Grace . How grace comes at a cost and we don't always like it. And then i moved on to: Seek the Things Above, February: God's Love , Freedom in Christ , Faithfulness , Heart March: Abide in Him , Never Forsake You , Sacrifice , Words Have Power April: First(and only one) Devo monday blog on Prayer , S

Teachable Moments: Waiting

I will instruct you in the way you should go; I will counsel you and watch over you. - Psalm 32:8 Waiting. It is a really hard thing to do sometimes. Especially when what you are waiting for is something you've been anxious about. Right now I'm in a state of waiting. I'm waiting for God to move. I'm waiting for him to tell me what to do. It feels like it has been forever. Some days are easier than others, but today has not been one of those days. In my anxious waiting heart today I decided to pick up a new book and get reading. As I read, Psalm 32:8 stuck out to me... "I will instruct you in the way you should go; I will counsel you and watch over you." In my anxious waiting today I have been asking God what he wants me to do. This morning the Lord gave me this verse, " He says, “Be still, and know that I am God;  I will be exalted   among the nations,  I will be exalted in the earth." Psalm 46:10 God's words sent to quiet my heart w

Star of Wonder

Merry Christmas!!! Today we watched a fascinating movie on the Star of Bethlehem. So in honor of Christmas, let's reflect on the visit of the Magi. Also, be sure to check out the website about the star of bethlehem. It is SO amazing! You will be glad that you did. The Magi Visit the Messiah After Jesus was born in Bethlehem in Judea,  during the time of King Herod,  Magi [ a ]  from the east came to Jerusalem   and asked, “Where is the one who has been born king of the Jews?  We saw his star  when it rose and have come to worship him.” When King Herod heard this he was disturbed, and all Jerusalem with him.   When he had called together all the people’s chief priests and teachers of the law, he asked them where the Messiah was to be born.   “In Bethlehem  in Judea,” they replied, “for this is what the prophet has written: “‘But you, Bethlehem, in the land of Judah,      are by no means least among the rulers of Judah; for out of you will come a ruler      who will sh

Trust in the Struggle

Founders Note:Today on the blog we have one of our monthly contributors Charity, she is sharing her heart on this months theme Trusting in God! You can find out more about her on our about page here.   If you know a little about my blogging journey you know that it started because of a push I received from God. He prompted me to move forward in sharing my life via this online world. However he wanted me do more than share my life, he wanted me to share my struggle . And from the time I began blog up until now my struggle has been the same. My husband and I have been trying to conceive for nearly 8 years.  We have been grief stricken, angry, jealous, felt alone and defeated. Several times I have even wanted to give up. Honestly we felt all those things because we were fearful and faithless. We didn't trust in God. We didn't trust that the bringer of life could do for us what he had done for countless other people. We watched the years pass and more babies be born around

More Than You Can Imagine

"By this all men will know that you are my disciples, if you LOVE one another." John 13:35  Above all else, guard  your heart,  for everything you do flows from it. Proverbs 4:23 Let the peace of Christ  rule in your hearts, since as members of one body  you were called to peace.  And be thankful. Colossians 3:15 Trusting in God isn't always easy to do. Although God has not given us reason to doubt him, we still find ourselves holding on to the threads of whatever control we do have left. Ladies, it's time to let go. It's time to give up all of the things you have been holding onto. They are a weight heavy to bear, a weight God has offered to hold for you, so let Him hold onto them.  "Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.  Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.  For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.&quo

There is no Deadline

Today on the blog we have one of our awesome monthly contributors Kiki, you can learn more about her on our about page here . She is sharing her heart on this months theme Trusting in God, so we hope that you are encouraged by her words as much as we were! You know what I've realized? I've realized that I've been giving God deadlines to meet in regards to certain milestones in my life. I dreamed of when I would have a boyfriend, get married, have a classroom of my own, and have children in my house. And the list goes on and on.  But you know what? None of my plans came or have come to fruition according to my timing and deadlines. And you know why? Because they were all my plans and my deadlines. And not God's. The reason why my dreams haven't come true isn't because God's not listening to me or doesn't want me to be happy. Because He does care for me, He does want me to be happy, and He does listen to me. He hears every single one of

Devotional Monday: Unending Grace

As i think about this months theme: trusting in God, I am reminded that his plans are way better than my own. He knows what I need, even when I'm sure that my "plan" is better. I am also reminded of the grace that he so freely gives to me, especially in those times when I don't always trust his good and perfect plan.  I am learning to be thankful for where I'm at instead of where I'm not, yes it's hard sometimes, i would be lying  to you if I said it was easy, cause it's not. But in the midst of the hard yet impatient seasons of my life, I am thankful for the grace that he so freely gives me each and every day. I was reading a devotional on grace a while ago, and what it said resonated with me so much, i am going to share it with you now: when we give someone grace it feels like were losing. It's like where telling them it's okay that you hurt me, when in our minds it's so not. When i think about this concept, i am reminded of God

Teachable Moments: A House on a Rock

The Wise and Foolish Builders “Therefore everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice  is like a wise man who built his house on the rock.   The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house; yet it did not fall, because it had its foundation on the rock.   But everyone who hears these words of mine and does not put them into practice is like a foolish man who built his house on sand.   The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house, and it fell with a great crash.” When Jesus had finished saying these things,  the crowds were amazed at his teaching,   because he taught as one who had authority, and not as their teachers of the law. Matthew 7:24-29 Tonight the Lord is teaching me to increase my faith in Him so that when the storms come I can bear the weight of them with Christ as my foundation. Sisters, tonight I hope you heed these words with me and build your foundation on Ch

Quiet Your Heart

Psalm 23 A psalm of David. The  Lord  is my shepherd,  I lack nothing.  He makes me lie down in green pastures, he leads me beside quiet waters,  he refreshes my soul.  He guides me  along the right paths  for his name’s sake.  Even though I walk  through the darkest valley,  I will fear no evil,  for you are with me;  your rod and your staff,  they comfort me.  You prepare a table  before me  in the presence of my enemies.  You anoint my head with oil;  my cup  overflows.  Surely your goodness and love  will follow me  all the days of my life,  and I will dwell in the house of the  Lord  forever.

Devotional Monday: Thankfulness

Currently I am reading the book: One thousand Gifts by Ann Voskamp ,  It has truly made me see what is to be thankful, even for the most mundane or ordinary things. Ann says it best with this quote from the book: "Something always comes to fill the empty places. And when I give thanks for the seemingly microscopic, I make a place for God to grow within me" Sometimes life seems like we are on a constant roller coaster of pain, hard ache, and even joy. The roller coaster just keeps going and we don't know if we can keep up, but we must remember that in the midst of these circumstances, giving thanks to him is what he calls us do, even if it's just for the socks on our feet.  The verse from 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 has really resonated with me, it says, "Rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus." Think about that for second, Give thanks in all circumstances not just the
