Red Lights

Founders Note: Today on the blog we have one of our Monthly contributors Kiki, you can learn more about her on our about page here . She is sharing her heart on this months theme, seasons of life. photo by Maria Carrasco Rodriguez via Unsplash If there's anything I've learned from experience, it's that there are different seasons, or different chapters of life. What I've learned more recently is that with each season, come different moments of waiting. Everyone is waiting for something. Waiting for graduation, waiting for a job offer, waiting for a phone call, waiting for a kiss goodnight, a bedtime story, or maybe a ring on their left hand.  Waiting is a part of everyone's life. And yet when we're actually waiting, it often feels like we're all alone. I want to take a quick moment today to remind you that no matter what stage you're at, what red light you're sitting at and waiting for that green light to go, that you're not alone.

Everything Has a Season

Hello there! I'm Meg and I usually write about life and family and photography along with other shenanigans over at Me with the Three. But today I thought I'd share some thoughts on seasons of life, and what we've learned along the way. So what do Ecclesiastes, The Byrds, and C.S. Lewis have in common? ( Do you even know The Byrds? Please say yes!) They don't really have much in common normally, but in my mind they do! And that sometimes is a scary place! Stick with me... hopefully my thought process will make sense!  When I started thinking about seasons, the first thing that came into my mind was the song from The Byrds... "to everything turn, turn, turn. There is a season turn, turn, turn..." Remember that one? Well, it's taken from Ecclesiastes, where the author (supposedly King Solomon) is talking about life and how things continue to keep moving forward and all the feelings and realizations a life lived full of wisdom brings.  Over

Devotional Monday: In His Time

Jeremiah 17:7-8 says, “But blessed is the one who trusts in the Lord , whose confidence is in him. They will be like a tree planted by the water that sends out its roots by the stream. It does not fear when heat comes; its leaves are always green. It has no worries in a year of drought and never fails to bear fruit.” When I read the verse above I was immediately reminded of what God has been teaching me lately, to trust in him even when I'm not sure where to go next. The first part of the verse really resonated with me: "But blessed is the one who trusts in the Lord, whose confidence is in him" These past few weeks in my first semester of Grad school these words have been true in my life as I  trust in his plan, and trust that he has me here for a reason. Having confidence in him.  But sometimes this trust is hard, it's hard to trust in his time and his plan. Especially when were in a season of waiting, or suffering, or we just feel lost all together, it ca

Teachable Moments: The Race

Over the last two months the Lord has been teaching me a lot. Today I wanted to take the time to share with you what I have been learning. First, God has been reminding me to trust him. For some reason, it is just so easy to worry about the future. In my worries and wanderings of what life will bring my way, God has called me to trust him. To let him guide me even though I can't see where I'm going. This has been a challenge in some moments but I have to say that life has been better since I have been reminded to put my trust in God.  Trust in the  Lord  with all your heart      and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him,      and he will make your paths  straight. Proverbs 3:5-6 Second, God has asked me to get rid of all of the stumbling blocks in my path so that I can live life unhindered by the entanglements of sin. Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders

Encourage One Another

23  Let us hold unswervingly to the hope  we profess,  for he who promised is faithful.   24  And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds,   25  not giving up meeting together,  as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another —and all the more as you see the Day approaching. - Hebrews 10:23-25 Recently my roommates and I have decided to start having a weekly prayer meeting. It has been really awesome to come together and share are hearts. It has allowed us to carry each other's burdens and pray for one another. I can't express to you how amazing it has been to share this special time with my roommates. Praying for one another is building us up from the inside out and uniting us.  Today I wanted to take the time to encourage you to pray for and encourage those around you. Here is the passage in Hebrews the Lord lead me to share the other night for are first prayer meeting.  Hebrews 10:19-39 A Call to Persevere in Faith

Seek First

Sometimes it is hard being the instrument. The artist is working away creating magnificent pieces never imagined before. But during all of that hard work, the instrument sometimes finds itself feeling weak, dull, in need of sharpening, or repair, feeling like they can't continue on to help the artist finish what he started. It is then that the creator picks up his tool, wipes it off, and sharpens it to perfection.  You see, we all have times when we feel dull. When the challenges of life are a lot to carry on our hearts and we sink into discouragement. But God doesn't leave us a hot mess, he picks us up, dusts us off, and then brings us back even sharper and more useful than before. " For we do not have a high priest who is unable to empathize with our weaknesses, but we have one who has been tempted in every way,  just as we are —yet he did not sin. Let us then approach God’s throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in ou
