If there's anything I've learned from experience, it's that there are different seasons, or different chapters of life. What I've learned more recently is that with each season, come different moments of waiting. Everyone is waiting for something. Waiting for graduation, waiting for a job offer, waiting for a phone call, waiting for a kiss goodnight, a bedtime story, or maybe a ring on their left hand.

Waiting is a part of everyone's life. And yet when we're actually waiting, it often feels like we're all alone. I want to take a quick moment today to remind you that no matter what stage you're at, what red light you're sitting at and waiting for that green light to go, that you're not alone.

Sure, our waits might last longer than others, but I think we can all agree that we need each other at each red light. We need to be able to look over at the car beside us or in our rearview mirrors and remember that there are others waiting, too. They may not be sitting next to us, but they're there. And they're there to remind you that sometimes, waiting really is a beautiful thing after all. So hang in there, friends. Hang in there and remind yourself that you're not alone.

  1. It's so cool how we can all bond in the waiting. Some wait for college, some wait for jobs, some wait for marriage, some wait for kids. And while that doesn't really make the wait any better, it is a good reminder to know that people understand! Thanks Kiki! You're so wise! ;)

    1. Aw, thanks sweet friend! It wasn't until this past year (especially with my blog name change) that I realized that we all do wait and are waiting for something all the time. So glad to be in the waiting with you!

  2. I like the image. Definitely a new way to look at the waiting, and instead of focusing on our own red light, seeing all the others that are waiting too.- thanks for sharing!

  3. Great post, Kiki! And such a great reminder for me as my word for the year is waiting! As I spend time in my own waiting time, I can't forget about those around me. I truly think the Lord puts specific seasons in our lives so that we can help others who may go through the same season. And learning to wait is definitely not excluded from that.

  4. amen and amen. also, while we're waiting, we don't have to stop living. you can still sing and dance and pray in the car while you're waiting at that red light ;) love this, kiki!

    2. Yes, Meg! I looove that addition to the analogy! Waiting does not mean that life will end, nor does it mean that we have to stop everything and just sit there at our red lights. The clock still ticks and the music still plays and there's lots of dancing to be done! :)

  5. love this post!!! it's so true that a lot of times we feel all alone in our stage of waiting! but what a great reminder that even if no one is waiting on the same thing i'm waiting on, that i'm not alone! and waiting really can be such a beautiful thing!! reminds me of that song "i will serve you while i'm waiting...."

    1. I'm glad you can relate! I all too often think that I am alone and that no one can relate to how I'm feeling or what I'm experiencing. But waiting really is something we all share and one of the reasons why I know God created community. :)

Being Content

Content, As christian women we here that word more times than we can count, especially in a season of waiting. Content is defined as,   pleased and satisfied : not needing more.  Have you been in a season in your life where your feel like you are just waiting? Waiting for a new job, waiting for things to get better, waiting for marriage, etc. Whatever you are waiting for, sometimes it just seems like it's taking forever just like a long line at the grocery store.  When I think about being content, my thoughts instantly go to being content in my singleness. How many times have we heard the cliche lines like "just wait, God's got it" said by well meaning people, only to make you feel worse. There was a time in my life where it was so hard to hear all of those lines without just wanting to cry, because like I said it made me feel worse rather than better.  That is when I would get discontent in waiting,  sometimes I feel like i am in this never...

Beauty out of Brokenness

1 Samuel 16:7  So as you may know, this months theme here on the Quiet Place is beauty in the brokenness and it's one of those topics that I personally just want to flesh out and be real with you all. Merriam Webster defines beauty as :  the quality or aggregate of qualities in a person or thing that gives pleasure to the senses or pleasurably exalts the mind or spirit. And brokenness is a place that each of us has been in at one time or another.  For me personally I would say that I find beauty in the brokenness in my life, in the seasons that I am in. Weather it be singleness, loss, etc. There's always that feeling that nothing will ever change, but then one day you begin to find beauty in it.  Singleness has always been on of those things for me, that I share a lot about both here and on my personal blog but it's something that I've always seen as a  line between something that is beautiful and just plain hard. I have emailed back and fort...
