Devotional Monday: Trust in his Plans

"The Lord will work out his plans for my life-for your faithful love, O Lord, endures forever. Don't abandon me, for you made me" -Psalm 138:8 (NLT)  Today I am going to talk about trusting in God's plans, simply because as I read this verse tonight it pulled at my heart strings. We all have a plan for lives weather it be what we think the future may hold, or when we are going to land the job of our dreams after we are done we college. Sometimes we make lists of these things and when we want them to happen, then when things don't happen the way we thought they would we are disappointed, maybe even heartbroken, cause we were so sure of what was going to happen next. But in the midst of being so sure of our plans, we forgot to put them in the hands of God and trust that he will work them out for our good. The verse above assures us that God's plans are so much better than our own. He always knows what's best for us and his love for us is unchanging and it

The Outcry of My Heart

Since the F5 tornado struck Moore, Oklahoma on Monday afternoon, I have been keeping up with the news. As I watched the footage seeing pile after pile of junk and thinking how each pile use to be someones home, business, or livelihood, my heart broke. One of the worst news casts I watched was about a school where children who had sought shelter in the basement of the school were trapped by the crumbling walls and then drowned after a water-main break flooded the space they were trapped in.  (News Article)  After hearing story after tragic story, hope began to break through. Every tragic story seems to have it's miracle counterpart. I've found that the best stories are those of love and sacrifice.  (The Love of Teachers)   Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one’s life for one’s friends.- John 15:13  Those who have risked there lives, or given them up for their neighbors are true heroes. For those people, I am truly grateful.  Matthew 10:42 And if anyone gives even

Devotional Monday: Joy

Nehemiah 8:10 says, "And do not be grieved, for the joy of the Lord is your strength.” Joy, it's something that we may feel when were going through a momentous event in our lives such as a wedding, graduation from college, or getting the job you have been dreaming about. But what about the joy that is experienced when we spend time with God soaking up his word. The verse above says it all, the joy of the lord is our strength. It's the shelter from the storm, it's the rock that sustains us when we feel like we just can't do it. In those times we must remember that no matter what we are going through God is right there, in the midst of our joy and our sadness he is right there loving us more than we can ever imagine. I don't know about you, but that my dear sisters puts my heart to rest. I remember talking with my best friend a while back about joy and she said that joy is more than just a feeling but it's something that we experience with God, when we w

To The Younger Me...

Don't waste time worrying, everything works out for your good. Keep trusting in God while your waiting for him to answer, he is faithful and will keep the promises that he made to you. Do your best in all things but remember it's okay to be imperfect. If you have an opportunity to know someone take it. Don't hesitate to be a friend with someone new. God's grace IS sufficient for you. Life is difficult sometimes but God is bigger. Let go and let God, he won't let you down. Forgive even when it hurts, if you don't you will only hurt yourself in the end. Don't be so hard on yourself. Work hard but play harder Younger Me-(Britney) Trust that God has it all under control even when you don't see it. You are worth it to God, despite the lies the world tells you. Forgive those who have hurt you in the past even though it comes at a cost. People  will hurt you, but God never will. God loves you more than you can even imagine. Guard your heart, i

Devotional Monday: Be Still

Today i want to talk about taking the time to be still before God. So often we get caught up in our busyness that we forget to take that time just be with the one who created us. cause sisters, he longs to be with you and he never stops pursuing you and I.  Psalm 46:10 says, He says, “Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth.” In this verse God is telling us to be still and know that he is God. For some of us to be still is like asking us to stay quiet for a long period of time, it's something that we can do if we work at it but getting there is hard. But with God, anything is possible. So with a little practice and some patience  soon, daily we will be sitting in prayer and reading his word and letting it penetrate to the deepest part of our hearts. That's what being still before God is all about sisters. Weather it be soaking up his word or just sitting in our favorite spot and resting our weary souls. So i encourag

My Story

I grew up in a little town in New York State with my older sister, little brother, and both of my parents. I attended church growing up and learned many Bible stories as a kid. I even remember one of my Sunday school teachers would use a felt board and little felt men to illustrate the Bible story. I have fond memories of Sunday school and church. I loved going to church to hang out with friends and to learn about Jesus. Nevertheless, there were times that attending church on Sunday was not something I wanted to do. I don't recall ever missing church for a long period of time, but I do remember not wanting to go to church on occasion. Around fifth grade I began to develop more in my faith and I was baptized at the age of 10. I don't think I fully understood the meaning of my baptism at the time. I understood the concept of it but I didn't completely grasp the weight of its meaning. That I was joyfully proclaiming to the world that I am a follower of Christ. When i was a k

Devotional Monday: He Puts our Hearts to Rest

Romans 8:27 says, " And he who searches our hearts knows the mind of the Spirit, because the Spirit intercedes for God’s people in accordance with the will of God". When I read this verse, the first part of it tugged at my heart. It says--"And he who searches our hearts knows the mind of the Spirit", God searches our hearts and he knows exactly the plan that he has for us. He knows exactly what we need, when we need it. He always meets us right where we are at no matter what we are going through. Hebrews 4:10-11(The message) says it best when it comes to putting our heart to rest in God and trusting the plans that he has for us. It says-- "And so this is still a live promise. It wasn't canceled at the time of Joshua; otherwise, God wouldn't keep renewing the appointment for “today.” The promise of “arrival” and “rest” is still there for God’s people. God himself is at rest. And at the end of the journey we’ll surely rest with God. So let’s keep at it an
