Nehemiah 8:10 says, "And do not be grieved, for the joy of the Lord is your strength.”
Joy, it's something that we may feel when were going through a momentous event in our lives such as a wedding, graduation from college, or getting the job you have been dreaming about. But what about the joy that is experienced when we spend time with God soaking up his word. The verse above says it all, the joy of the lord is our strength. It's the shelter from the storm, it's the rock that sustains us when we feel like we just can't do it. In those times we must remember that no matter what we are going through God is right there, in the midst of our joy and our sadness he is right there loving us more than we can ever imagine. I don't know about you, but that my dear sisters puts my heart to rest. I remember talking with my best friend a while back about joy and she said that joy is more than just a feeling but it's something that we experience with God, when we worship, read his word, or just sit and pray, that is where his joy is evident. I encourage you this week my dear sisters to remember that joy of the Lord is your strength and he will never let you go. Let that joy be the rock that takes you through the bittersweet times of life, and reminds you that without the bitter, there could be no sweet. Rest your weary soul in the words of C.S. Lewis, "Joy is the serious business of Heaven."
