The Community Brew: Cause We're Worth It

Today I am linking up with Madison of The Wetherills Say I Do and Rachel of Oh Simple Thoughts for their community brew linkup. This month the theme is open to share whatever is on your heart. So today, I hope you can join me with your cup of coffee or tea and sit back while I share my heart with you. A few months back She Reads Truth did a study on Hebrews, and since I am currently in a bible study right now that is studying the book of Hebrews I wanted to go back and read it again, particularly chapter 9. Hebrews 9:24 says: "For Christ has entered, not into holy places made with hands, but which are copies of the true things, but into heaven itself, now to appear in the presence of God on our behalf"  Reading this makes me think of all the times that I've run from God or not done what he's told me to do, or pretty much did my own thing. It also reminds me that of the "worth" that God places on each and every one of us.  God gives his own so

A Letter From Sophia

Founders Note: Today on the blog we have are monthly contributor Sophia, she is sharing her heart on this month's theme Abiding in Christ. You can learn more about Sophia on the about page.  Whenever we go through some thing that we consider a hardship it can do one of either two things  with our relationship with God.  We could either move closer to Him or farther away.   How many times have we become resentful toward God when we were going though something because we thought that He had the power to fix it but didn’t?  I am not ashamed to admit that I have been in the position in which I have been resentful toward God.  Most of the time this stems from the fact that I have tried to make everything work on my own and things kept getting worse.  As a result I continue to worry and have anxiety about my situation.  The Bible teaches us that  “There is no fear in love. But perfect love drives out fear, because fear has to do with punishment. The one who fears

Q+A: Meet Rebecca

Founders Note:(Britney) Today we have Rebecca of Caravan Sonnet  sharing a little bit more about herself. I have truly enjoyed getting to know her more through this post, she has such an amazing story and I can definetly see how God is continually working in her life despite her health challenges. She has such a joyful spirit, and that is very evident in her blog as well.  I love her posts on faith and how she is so open about her health problems . So be sure to check out her awesome blog at the links below! 1.What is the story behind Caravan Sonnet The story behind Caravan Sonnet emerged over time honestly. Two years ago I knew that life was changing in many ways (moving home, the plan to concentrate on graduate school only, taking a year off of teaching) but could never have imagined the  radica l ways that it was truly to change (not able attend s

The Vinedresser

“I am  the true vine,  and my Father is the gardener.     He cuts off every branch in me that bears no fruit,  while every branch that does bear fruit  he prunes   so that it will be even more fruitful.   You are already clean because of the word I have spoken to you.   Remain in me, as I also remain in you.  No branch can bear fruit by itself; it must remain in the vine. Neither can you bear fruit unless you remain in me." -John 15:1-4 As you know this months theme here on The Quiet Place is "abiding in Christ". When thinking about this months theme I was reminded of a devotional I did this summer on what it means to abide in Christ. One day in particular it was talking about God as the vinedresser as it says in John 15:1-"I am the true vine, and my Father is the gardener."   In my life I see daily how God is pruning me in my struggles, in my stress, and in my joy. He's pruning me like grapes on a vine, he's taking the pain, struggle, joy and p

He is Christ

Founders Note: Today on the blog we have are monthly contributor Buife, she is sharing her heart on this month's theme  abiding  in christ. You can learn more about Buife and her blog on the about page.  If you are reading this blog and you're yet to receive Christ Jesus into your life, let me use this opportunity to extend His invitation to you; Behold, I stand at the door and knock; if anyone hears and listens to and heeds My voice and opens the door, I will come into him (and/or her) and will eat with him (and/or her), and he (and/or she) [will eat] with Me. - Revelation 3:20, Amp. You might be wondering, 'why do I need to have fellowship with Jesus?' Here are some reasons the bible gives; As it is written, None is righteous, just and truthful and upright and conscientious, no, not one. No one understands [no one intelligently discerns or comprehends]; no one seeks out God. All have turned aside; together they have gone wrong and have become u

Abiding Fruit

Founders Note: Today on the blog we have are monthly contributor Victoria, she is sharing her heart on this month's theme Abiding in Christ. You can find out more about Victoria and her blog on are about page.  John 15 is basically the Christian life in a nutshell. In this short chapter, we learn that: * God is the vinedresser (15:1) * We are made clean by the word of Christ (15:3) * Christ is the vine and we are the branches (15:5) * We can only bear fruit by abiding in Christ (15: 4 – 7 and 16) * Branches that do not bear fruit are taken away (15:2 and 6) * Branches that bear fruit are pruned so that they will bear more fruit for the glory of God (15: 2, 8, and 16) It is quite simple. For the Christian, abiding in Christ is not optional. We either do or we do not. If we abide in Christ we will bear fruit. God will prune us and we will bear more fruit. The fruit we are to bear is obedience to Christ and can only be accomplished by abiding

Abiding in Christ

Founders Note: Today on the blog we have Meg sharing her heart on this month's theme Abiding in Christ. You can learn more about Meg on are about page. Abiding in Christ. Is this as elusive to everyone else as it is me? I mean, I’d love to be able to have a calm, peaceful heart, and always be content in my place as a daughter of Christ. I’d love to be able to remember that at all times. I wish I could display who I am in Christ, and that Christ is in me at all times. But I can’t.   I’m a sinner. Just like everyone else. So all I can do is keep repeating this over and over in my head and in my heart: “ “Yes, I am the vine; you are the branches. Those who remain in me, and I in them, will produce much fruit. For apart from me you can do nothing.” John 15:5 I love the way it is translated in The Message: “I am the Vine, you are the branches. When you’re joined with me and I with you, the relation intimate and organic, the harvest is sure to b

She is sharing a little bit more about herself and her blog!  I really enjoyed getting to know her more through this post, So be sure to check it out at the links below! 1.   What is the story behind your blog name? Honestly, when I was starting my blog and thinking of names, it just kind of came to me.  Since I am technically a “work at home mom” instead of a “stay at home mom”, I’m not really a homemaker.  But I still cook, clean, and take care of my kid pretty much all day, every day, so in that sense I am a “homemaker”.  Hence, the “so-called” homemaker! 2.   How did you start blogging? A “real life” friend had started blogging and I saw how much fun she seemed to be having, so I decided to give it a shot! 3.   whats one thing that you love about the blogging community? I love that for the most part, this community is all about building each other up!  I get tired of t
