Founders Note: Today on the blog we have Meg sharing her heart on this month's theme Abiding in Christ. You can learn more about Meg on are about page.
Abiding in Christ.
Is this as elusive to everyone else as it is me? I mean, I’d
love to be able to have a calm, peaceful heart, and always be content in my
place as a daughter of Christ.
I’d love to be able to remember that at all times.
I wish I could display who I am in Christ, and that Christ
is in me at all times.
But I can’t.
I’m a sinner. Just like everyone else.
So all I can do is keep repeating this over and over in my
head and in my heart:
““Yes, I am
the vine; you are the branches. Those who remain in me, and I in them, will
produce much fruit. For apart from me you can do nothing.” John 15:5
I love the
way it is translated in The Message:
“I am the
Vine, you are the branches. When you’re joined with me and I with you, the
relation intimate and organic, the harvest is sure to be abundant. Separated,
you can’t produce a thing. Anyone who separates from me is deadwood, gathered
up and thrown on the bonfire. But if you make yourselves at home with me and my
words are at home in you, you can be sure that whatever you ask will be
listened to and acted upon. This is how my Father shows who he is—when you
produce grapes, when you mature as my disciples.”
I love the
part about “if you make yourselves at home with me…” Isn’t that a great
picture?
Being at
home with Jesus. Totally relaxed. Letting him in to all the junk that you only
let those in your home life see. Not worrying about anything else. Just letting
it “be.”
When I
think of abiding fully in Christ, I think of “childlike faith.” Where we don’t
really know anything other than loving Jesus and living full and free, barefoot
and taking it all in, content.
Amen!
ReplyDeleteMeg,
ReplyDeleteThis is so good! So spot on and totally spoke to my heart!
I love that message translation of John 15:5, so good!
Abiding with Christ is such a beautiful, peaceful thing!
ReplyDeleteI keep going back to the part of the chapter where He talks about HIS abiding with the Father. We have an example from Him and we get to see what is possible when one truly abides with God....It's amazing. :)
So true!
ReplyDeleteI loved that too! I don't usually use the Message... but I did like how it described this!
ReplyDeleteHa! I'm glad what I wrote made sense!
