Devotional Monday: Singleness

Today I am going to talk about singleness. I know it's something that we all struggle with at some point in our lives. As women we all have a desire to be wanted and pursued by someone. But we forget that God is pursuing us each and every day, he longs for our love. I was talking with a friend a while ago when I was struggling with feeling rejected, she reminded me of God's love for me by saying this: "God loves you more than you can even imagine" Ever since then those words have stuck with me and helped me in those times when I struggle with being single. She also shared with me Isaiah 56, which says--"He was despised and rejected by mankind, a man of suffering, and familiar with pain.Like one from whom people hide their faces he was despised, and we held him in low esteem." This tells us that even Jesus was rejected and people even hid their faces from him. Someone that many people followed was rejected by those who did not believe. Just as we are rejected by those who feel it's not worth it to them to pursue us, but ladies you are worth it. You are worth it to God, his love is unchanging, his love is constant. It has no conditions, no matter what we are going through he is right there loving us despite it all. Paul talks about singleness in 1 Corinthians 7:32-35, it says----
"I would like you to be free from concern. An unmarried man is concerned about the Lord’s affairs—how he can please the Lord. 33 But a married man is concerned about the affairs of this world—how he can please his wife— 34 and his interests are divided. An unmarried woman or virgin is concerned about the Lord’s affairs: Her aim is to be devoted to the Lord in both body and spirit. But a married woman is concerned about the affairs of this world—how she can please her husband. 35 I am saying this for your own good, not to restrict you, but that you may live in a right way in undivided devotion to the Lord." 
 Paul is telling us here in verse 34,  that a single women is concerned about the Lords affairs: Her aim is to be devoted to the Lord in both body and spirit. That right there pulls at my heart strings because that is what i strive to do, to be devoted to the Lord in body and spirit, my prayer every day is that I fall more in love with him. As a single women myself, I know that putting my desire to be wanted and pursued into the hands of God is important. Yet, sometimes I struggle with it, i know that when I do put the pen in the hands of God his plans are always so much better than my own. So remember my dear sisters, if you are struggling with being single and have that desire to be pursued, wanted, sought after, remember to give your desires to God because his plans are so much better than our own. And remember that you are worth it.

    Amen sister! I used to worry about who I was going to marry - thinking I had to act or be certain ways in order to attract the right husband. But don't! Just keep praying every day, or every hour, whenever you find yourself thinking about the future, pray for God's Will to be done! Throughout college and high school I prayed for God's Will in my relationships, but I realize now that I never really trusted Him completely. I still felt like I was in control and that I might mess up. But God is faithful! Just when I least expected it, He put Adam in my life. And for the first time ever, I felt at peace. Pray for peace, and it will be given to you in due time! The Lord loves and cares about every aspect of our lives. Trust Him and don't worry! He truly is faithful.

    thanks for the advice girl, That is definetly something that i struggle with, being in control of the future. I know i'm ready, but i just need to remember to pray about it!

Around The Table February \\ Favorite Soup Recipes

It's February and that means another around the table linkup, I am so excited to see where this linkup goes and the community it creates. This months theme is Favorite soup recipes, one of my favorite soup recipes is a Tomato Basil Soup recipe that I've had for a while now. I made it for my friends a couple weeks ago, and it was perfect with some bread that one of my friends brought. Ingredients: 3 cloves of garlic, minced 2 tablespoons of olive oil 2-14oz cans of crushed tomatoes 1-14oz can of whole tomato's 2 cups of stock (chicken or vegetable) 1 tsp of sea salt 1 tsp of sugar 1/2 tsp of fresh ground black pepper 1/4 cup of heavy cream 3 tablespoons of fresh basil Parmesan cheese for the top. Directions: In a saucepan, saute the garlic and olive oil on medium heat for about 1 minute but be careful not to burn the garlic. Travel Essentials
