Restoration

Luke 22:31-32  “Simon, Simon, Satan has asked  to sift all of you as wheat.   But I have prayed for you,  Simon, that your faith may not fail. And when you have turned back, strengthen your brothers.” There is something so good about spending time with Jesus. He always restores my heart. Tonight I opened up an old devotional and this is the verse that met me. It was exactly what I needed. Lately things have been a bit challenging for me, and if i'm honest, it's been a bit lonely. This verse tonight encouraged my weary heart and reminded me that I'm not on my own in these challenges. God is right here with me (Matthew 28:20).  Even when it doesn't feel like you're here Lord, I know that you are always with me. Help me to see that you are, and to seek you in my challenging moments. Thank you for praying for me, and being my strength in affliction. In Jesus Name I Pray, Amen.  Be encouraged sisters, we're not in this alone.

Jumping Ship

These past few weeks, I've been joining in over at She reads truth for the lent devotional. The past week or so it's been focusing on the book of Jonah. At the beginning of the book, God asks Jonah to go to a city and tell people about his word. But Jonah doesn't trust what God is telling him so he runs away to a city called Tarshish and ends up on a boat. The weather starts to get bad and the people on the ship ask him what has brought this on and he says that it is him, so they throw him overboard. In the meantime he is swallowed up by a fish and is in the belly of it for a while. After that he asks God for forgiveness and ultimately ends up doing what God had planned for him all along.  This got me thinking about the times that so many of us (my self included) have been so quick to run because we were scared of what God is telling us to do. We are afraid of going outside of our comfort zone and going into the unknown. I know I felt that way when I was considering whe

In All Things

I thought of this verse today... I have seen something else under the sun:  The race is not to the swift  or the battle to the strong,  nor does food come to the wise  or wealth to the brilliant  or favor to the learned;  but time and chance   happen to them all.  Ecclesiastes  9:11 ...and it made me so thankful for grace. I am thankful that even though there aren't any steadfasts  in this life, I can count on one thing, God. I am grateful that no matter what, I can trust him, that no matter what, he is not going to desert me. I am thankful that in my weakest and darkest moments, I have a God who overcomes, who has the power to change me, and my circumstances. I am grateful that... "...in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose". Romans 8:28 What are you grateful for?

Ocean of Grace

Founders Note: Today on the blog we have one of our monthly Contributors Charity, she is sharing her heart on this months theme Grace, which is one of our favorite topics, so grab a cup of coffee or tea and soak up the words that Charity has for each of us in this post!  You can find out more about her on our about page! "If grace is an ocean, we're all sinking"  sang the David Crowder Band. How true is that verse? Are we sinking in a sea of grace? If you serve the God who sent his only Son to die on the cross for your sins and sins to come, then I would have to say yes yes we are drowning in his sweet grace. But what is grace and how do we earn it? Grace is the unmerited favor from God. Fortunately it's not like reward points, you can't get any more or less of it by your behavior. When Jesus signed his life on the dotted line for our sins we were given a portion of God's grace whether we wanted it or not. Whether we claim our portion of that g

Gracie

Founders Note: Today on the blog we have one of our newest monthly contributors Vanessa from a Journey to God . She is sharing her heart on this months theme Grace. We hope you are encouraged by her words as much as we were. One of my favorite people is this world is my niece, Kayley. She’s 10 and she’s really cool. She loves her friends, loves to play sports, and she was baptized last year telling everyone she loves Jesus too. I don’t call her by her first name; instead I call her Gracie, because her middle name is Grace. Gracie is a gift to me and I treasure her greatly. I’ve been pursuing God more faithfully over the past year or so. When I first began meeting with Jesus, He started teaching me about what separates me from His protective presence. I’m a visual learner, and no one knows this more than my creator. During a quiet time with him he gave me a picture. I was standing on a tall mountain cliff out in front of me was a chasm and on the other side was Jesus. The ch

Teachable Moments: More Than a Little Bit Difficult

What do you do when life gets more than a little bit hard? Especially when from an outside view in, things shouldn't be so bad.  This week has been especially difficult. I have so many things on my mind tossing inside of me, questions that I have for God that don't seem to be getting answered, abrupt life changes that have been very difficult to adjust to. These things on top of mounting school work overwhelmed me. Then, last night as I was sitting in the kitchen, feeling so confused, and unsure of what to do, I lost it. The tears began to pour out of me like a river as the emotions from the past week came to surface. I have to tell you, I don't think that I have ever had a difficult moment in my life that was quiet like that. It was good for me to let it out, I needed to. As I processed everything going through my head and continue to process it today, it was essential for me in that moment to remember one thing, God IS. God is the same yesterday, today, and tomorr

Devotional Monday: In Scorched Places

Photo from here . Isaiah 58:11 And the Lord will guide you continually and satisfy your desire in scorched places and make your bones strong;and you shall be like a watered garden, like a spring of water, whose waters do not fail. As we continue to focus on Grace this month I am continually reminded of God's love mixed in with the grace that he so freely gives us each and every day. Isaiah 58:11 is an amazing reminder of both his grace and love. "And the Lord will guide you continually and satisfy your desire in scorched places"--I love this part because it goes back to what I always remind myself of on a daily basis, that God always meets us right where we are at. He meet us in those scorched places of brokenness, pain, and even joy. He is right there guiding us down the path that he has planned out for us.  He is right there with us, despite our circumstances and in that I take comfort. As I listened to the story behind this song, I was reminded that even whe

Grace is Forgiving

Founders Note: Today on the blog we have our Monthly Contributor Kiki, sharing her heart on this months theme: Grace. I've always loved the word grace. There's a certain beauty about that word and a certain peaceful quality about it, too. Maybe it's just the nerd in me, but I like words and grace is one of those words. But there's more to grace than just the sound that it makes when it leaves your mouth. There's much more to it. The word grace means life. It means faith. It means forgiveness. I came across a quote on Pinterest the other day and it really stuck. I think it originated from another blogger and I couldn't shake the words out of the back of my mind. "Grace is forgiving. Grace is also for giving." Grace means forgiveness. It means mercy. It means wiping the slate clean when life gets messy. It means a fresh start. It means life, and Jesus, and so much more than I could ever fully grasp or understand.  Grace is amazing. And

I was never Content Being Single

Founders Note: Today on the blog we have Beka from The I love You's, we connected with Beka via email and we asked her to guest post, and were so glad we did! She is sharing her heart on singleness, which is something that I (Britney) can relate to being in a season of singleness. So, be sure to check out her blog at the links below! Blog  |  Facebook  |  Twitter  |  Instagram Hey there! My name's Beka Castille, and I'm a newlywed living in rural Tennessee. Devotional Monday: Out of the Depths

Psalm 130 "Out of the depths I cry to you, Lord; Lord, hear my voice. Let your ears be attentive to my cry for mercy.  If you, Lord, kept a record of sins, Lord, who could stand? But with you there is forgiveness, so that we can, with reverence, serve you. I wait for the Lord, my whole being waits, and in his word I put my hope. I wait for the Lord, more than watchmen wait for the morning, more than watchmen wait for the morning. Israel, put your hope in the Lord, for with the Lord is unfailing love and with him is full redemption. He himself will redeem Israel from all their sins." As i read Psalm 130 I was reminded of God's grace, which just happens to be our theme for this month.  "Out of the depths I cry to you, Lord; Lord, hear my voice. Let your ears be attentive to my cry for mercy. If you, Lord, kept a record of sins, Lord, who could stand? But with you there is forgiveness, so that we can, with reverence, serve you." The part that really tugg

Grace Goes Before Me

He has saved  us and called  us to a holy life—not because of anything we have done  but because of his own purpose and grace. This grace was given us in Christ Jesus before the beginning of time...  2 Timothy 1:9 This month's theme is grace, and it's my favorite topic. Grace is so amazing! Nothing I could have ever asked for would have amounted to the Grace God gives us. Grace is humbling , it reminds me that I don't have what I have because I earned it, I have it because it was given to me by God.  Grace is redeeming , it reminds me that God is the restorer of my soul, that he makes all things new, and that I am not a lost cause.  Grace is empowering , God's grace gives us His spirit and allows us to be new and in return to share grace with the people around us.  Grace is unending , it doesn't run out, and it never will. Christ's love for us provides us Grace for the way. His death on the cross put Grace before us, that we might walk with

Finally Friday!

Satisfy  us in the morning with your unfailing love,  that we may sing for joy  and be glad all our days. Yay! I'm so excited it's FINALLY Friday! :D If you couldn't tell I really LOVE fridays, and by the end of the week, I really need the rest. This morning i've had the opportunity to read through some beautiful blog posts enlaced with scripture truths. It has been so very good for my heart. This morning I encourage you to take a moment and sit in the presence of God. Let the Holy Spirit fill your heart with peace and joy. Let him restore you this morning and prepare your heart for whatever this day holds for you. Pray with me... Lord, Fill our hearts this morning with your unfathomable love. Restore our souls with peace and rest. Let us fix our eyes on you and open our hearts to the Joy you bring. Help us today to claim victory in your name against, exhaustion, bad attitudes, anxiety, and stress. Provide us this morning what we need for today.

In Christ We Stand

Rest your weary heart in these words today... My hope is built on nothing less Than Jesus’ blood and righteousness; I dare not trust the sweetest frame, But wholly lean on Jesus’ name. When darkness seems to veil His face, I rest on His unchanging grace; In every high and stormy gale My anchor holds within the veil. His oath His covenant and blood Support me in the ‘whelming flood: When all around my soul gives way, He then is all my hope and stay. On Christ the solid rock I stand; All other ground is sinking sand. On Christ the solid rock I stand, All other ground is sinking sand. When the last trumpet’s voice shall sound, O may I then in him be found. Clothed in his righteousness alone, Faultless to stand before his throne. What's Your Favorite Spring Clothing?

Founders Note: Today on the blog we have the five lovely ladies on our sidebar this month! This month we asked them: What's your favorite spring clothing? Be sure to check out each of their blogs at the links below, you won't be disappointed! Katrina Blog   |   Facebook   |   Instagram   |   Etsy shop   I think I'm most excited to get away from certain things... tons of layers, the same sweaters that I am wearing all the time to keep warm (I'm  not really  enjoying the polar vortex that is currently hovering over Michigan), and tights!  I wear skirts / dresses almost constantly, and I love it, but I can't wait to wear them by themselves—without sweater tights and large sweaters and chunky scarfs (I love those too, but after 5 months, it gets old, ya know?). To get a glimpse into my current wardrobe (and how it will be changing with spring), check out my  OOTDsketches !     Christina                                                   Blog
