Devotional Monday: In Scorched Places

Photo from here.
Isaiah 58:11
And the Lord will guide you continually and satisfy your desire in scorched places and make your bones strong;and you shall be like a watered garden, like a spring of water, whose waters do not fail.
As we continue to focus on Grace this month I am continually reminded of God's love mixed in with the grace that he so freely gives us each and every day. Isaiah 58:11 is an amazing reminder of both his grace and love. "And the Lord will guide you continually and satisfy your desire in scorched places"--I love this part because it goes back to what I always remind myself of on a daily basis, that God always meets us right where we are at. He meet us in those scorched places of brokenness, pain, and even joy. He is right there guiding us down the path that he has planned out for us.  He is right there with us, despite our circumstances and in that I take comfort.

As I listened to the story behind this song, I was reminded that even when i am in those scorched places God's grace is still there, even when I don't see it. When i am overwhelmed with Grad school homework God is right there holding out his hand and giving me his grace, no matter what. When i am struggling with my season in life, he is there to let me know that he's got it all planned out and i don't have to worry, cause he knows what's best for me.

So, find rest in the words of Isaiah 58:11 when you are in those "scorched places", cause sisters he loves you more than you know and his grace is right there waiting for you. So reach out your hand and take it.

  1. Thanks Britney, such a sweet reminder. I'm always amazed of how steadfast His love is for me, even when I turn away from Him. He doesn't just give us mercy, He goes over the top to give us what we don't deserve, in spite of what we do deserve: grace. :)

The Wetherills Say I Do | Guest Post

Founders Note: Today on the blog we have one of our August sponsors Madison of The Wetherills Say I Do . She is also one of my blogging friends, I have enjoyed working with her this month and am excited to continue in the future, she is a sweet girl with a big heart for others and Jesus! Today She is sharing her heart on this months theme: Beauty in the Brokenness. So be sure to check out her blog at the links below! If you've ever heard a group of people share their testimonies, a lot of them have a common thread: brokenness. A lot of now believers had to come to a very low point in their lives before they had their breaking moment of calling out to Jesus. Have you ever wondered why that is? Why is it that so many of us have to hit rock bottom before we'll realize our infinite need for a Savior? I don't know the answer to that question, but I do know that in my darkest moments, I've seen the Lord hand out grace and turn brokenness into beauty. We all tend t...

(you can find the link below) We've just discovered Brooke's blog and we look forward to unwrapping more of the great wisdom she has to share. Without further ado, here is her post... Imagine, if you will, that you are in a waiting room. The room is crowded; people standing, people on chairs, people sitting on the floor; this room is totally packed full. And all of these people are waiting. Waiting for what you may ask? That’s simple; love. You are standing in a corner with some of your girlfriends having some laughs. Then one of them gets called out of the room. Then another. Then another; another one bites the dust. One by one all of your single girlfriends are leaving the waiting room and finding true love. Not only are your friends leaving you, but the rest room seems to empty out significantly. And then there’s you. --...
