Abide in Him

Hello Friends! I am excited to share this post with you on are theme this month, rest. When I thought of the theme for this month, John Chapter 15 came to mind. This passage has been coming up a lot in my life lately. My plate has been full these last few months and this passage has brought me so much encouragement. I hope that you find the same encouragement here today as I share about rest with you. So read on my friend... The Vine and the Branches 15  “I am  the true vine,  and my Father is the gardener.   2  He cuts off every branch in me that bears no fruit,  while every branch that does bear fruit  he prunes  so that it will be even more fruitful.   3  You are already clean because of the word I have spoken to you.   4  Remain in me, as I also remain in you.  No branch can bear fruit by itself; it must remain in the vine. Neither can you bear fruit unless you remain in me. 5  “I am the vine; you are the ...

How does she do it? A Lesson in Resting

Founders Note: Today on the blog we have one of our monthly contributors Vannessa. She is sharing her heart on this months theme: Rest. You can find out more about her on our about page here . So, sit back and be encouraged by her words on rest.  When I think about rest, it’s usually followed by, “WHO HAS THE TIME?!” As a working mama of three, I have so much going on, and on top of it all, I have a lot of personal interests and passions. However, there comes a time when it all starts to creep up on me. Tired and weary sets in and my ability to juggle become very limited because I am painfully human and NO ONE can keep up a hectic pace for long. Jesus knew this. He knew that in this world, busy and scheduled were going to be the biggest obstacles in our walk with Him. BEING BUSY… Keeps us from being present When my life is busy, and filled to the brim, it keeps me from being present. My schedule will often dictate my priorities. Not being one who enjoys being late, my ...

Teachable Moments: Affliction

Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer. Romans 12:12 This is my comfort in my affliction, for Your word has given me life. Psalm 119:50 Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up. Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all people, especially to those who belong to the family of believers. Galatians 6:9-10 Then Jesus said to his disciples, “Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross and follow me. For whoever wants to save their life will lose it, but whoever loses their life for me will find it. What good will it be for someone to gain the whole world, yet forfeit their soul? Or what can anyone give in exchange for their soul? Matthew 16:24-26 I never realized before this time in my life how profound these verses are. I've read them what seems like a million times but until recently, thei...

Rest: God's Peace and Contentment For His Children

Founders Note: Today on the blog, we have one of our monthly contributors Kristy. She is sharing her heart on this months theme rest. We hope you are encouraged by her words as much as we were, you can find out more about her on our about page . Rest is something I’m definitely in need of lately. You may have noticed my lack of appearance on TQP or my own blog as of late. Well, between planning a wedding, major changes in my church ministry, trying to relocate to be closer to my fiancé, the school year coming to a close, and my ability to overbook myself constantly, rest is something I need . Does that mean I always get it? Of course not! WE NEED REST: Biblically speaking, God shows us that we need rest! At the beginning of creation, God stopped and rested, not because He needed it, but to show us that we do. Looking over passages that related to rest or peace, I came across this one – Proverbs 19:23 “ The fear of the Lord leads to life; then one rests content, untouc...

A Note to Bloggers

Founders Note: Today on the blog we have one of our awesome monthly contributors and one of my dear blogging friends Kiki. Today she is sharing her heart on this months theme Rest, which if you didn't know ties right in with our mission statement of "Encouraging young women to find rest in God". So, go curl up in your favorite spot and be encouraged by her words. As bloggers, it's easy to feel the need to stay connected and constantly check, check, check. There's often a lot of pressure on bloggers (and non-bloggers alike) to stay up-to-date so we often mindlessly scroll through our feeds on Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, and the like. We have to read each post our friends publish and comment, comment, comment. We have to post at certain times to get the most likes and we have to send out those emails stat. And I'm not accusing you or any other blogger out there because I find myself doing that very thing more often than not. We like to keep busy and bu...

Devotional Monday: Rest

Rest is the theme this month and i am so excited to dig in and soak up all that God has for us. So with that being said, today I want to talk more about rest. As you know our mission statement is "encouraging women to find rest in God." To me that's what it's all about, finding rest in him and his word.  When Hillary and I decided to do this blog a year ago, we knew that we wanted it to place where women could come to find rest in God and his word. When I think of rest i think of sitting in my favorite spot and opening up my bible and soaking up his word. I also think of the words of our foundation verse Matthew 11:28-30, where God tells us to rest our weary souls in him. He is the place that we should go to when the world get's to be too much, or were so stressed out that were going to explode. He is our resting spot, our place to lay our head down. John 15:4 says- " Remain in me, as I also remain in you.  No branch can bear fruit by itself; it must...

Founders Note: Today on the blog we have the five lovely ladies on our sidebar this month! Since this months theme on the Quiet Place is Rest which ties in with our mission statement of: "encouraging women to find rest in God." We have asked them the question, where do you find rest? Be sure to check out each of their blogs at the links below! Where do you find rest?  Katrina//Katrina Illustration and Design Blog  |  Blog Lovin'  |  Instagram  |  Etsy   I recently switched my quiet time back to the early morning—before work.  I used to do this at school, but when I began working I tried a different schedule.  It didn't work... but since I switched back, I am getting up earlier, but feeling more rested and loving than I was before!  As far as re-grouping during the day or after a particularly hard week, I am rather easy to please.  Just some time when I am not "doing ___ for work".  I love spending time w...

Hey ladies! Today I just wanted to take some time to let you know about the great resources Bible Gateway has to offer. I'm on there website pretty much every time I write a blog post. It is a great Scripture resource, but it has so much more to offer as well. As frequently as I visit their sight, I am still finding new and helpful tools.
