A Note to Bloggers

Founders Note: Today on the blog we have one of our awesome monthly contributors and one of my dear blogging friends Kiki. Today she is sharing her heart on this months theme Rest, which if you didn't know ties right in with our mission statement of "Encouraging young women to find rest in God". So, go curl up in your favorite spot and be encouraged by her words.

rest
As bloggers, it's easy to feel the need to stay connected and constantly check, check, check. There's often a lot of pressure on bloggers (and non-bloggers alike) to stay up-to-date so we often mindlessly scroll through our feeds on Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, and the like. We have to read each post our friends publish and comment, comment, comment.

We have to post at certain times to get the most likes and we have to send out those emails stat. And I'm not accusing you or any other blogger out there because I find myself doing that very thing more often than not.

We like to keep busy and busy people we are. Let me just clarify and say that I truly believe in working hard and staying busy. It's brought me to where I am in both my online and offline life. But it's equally important to rest, relax, and rejuvenate. We need to take a breather every now and then and step back from our social media platforms, too.

And while it's hard, sometimes that means we need to unplug and disconnect from our devices. And when we disconnect from our devices, we can then connect with our family, our friends, and our God. We can spend time in His creation, we can spend time going on coffee dates, or maybe have a night in and curl up with a good book.

Because sometimes it takes a moment of relaxation to realize how grateful we are for our busy lives and for all that He's given us. So tell me, how are you going to rest today?

  1. this is perfect! unplugging is SO needed! it's so easy to get so involved online and forget to live life and be intentional with the people physically in your life! thanks for the encouragement, Kiki!

  4. hmmm... how am I going to rest this evening? I was actually wondering that as the minutes since I have walked through my door have increased. Well, whatever it may be, it will include snuggling in my bed and recapping my day with God. I guess we'll see where we go from there. :-)

  5. Thanks for encouraging us to seek the Lord first over our blogs Kiki!
Trusting in God means we also have to rest from our blog "work" and trust that He'll bring the readers :) It's a good act of faith :D

  6. It's definitely so important to rest. I am going out of town this weekend and I'm pretty sure I'll be taking a social media fast, just to be able to enjoy my time away and not be focused on sharing the trip via social media. That's what latergrams are for ;) Thank you for the encouragement!

  8. I agree it is important to rest. And we as bloggers especially need to find time to rest because of all the work that it brings. Truly resting in God and his presence is so important, Kiki definitely said it all.

  11. I agree Robyn, it is so easy to get caught up in all of the social media and stuff. So it is important that we find time to unplug.

The Wetherills Say I Do | Guest Post

Founders Note: Today on the blog we have one of our August sponsors Madison of The Wetherills Say I Do . She is also one of my blogging friends, I have enjoyed working with her this month and am excited to continue in the future, she is a sweet girl with a big heart for others and Jesus! Today She is sharing her heart on this months theme: Beauty in the Brokenness. So be sure to check out her blog at the links below! If you've ever heard a group of people share their testimonies, a lot of them have a common thread: brokenness. A lot of now believers had to come to a very low point in their lives before they had their breaking moment of calling out to Jesus. Have you ever wondered why that is? Why is it that so many of us have to hit rock bottom before we'll realize our infinite need for a Savior? I don't know the answer to that question, but I do know that in my darkest moments, I've seen the Lord hand out grace and turn brokenness into beauty. We all tend t...

Hellooo Beautiful

Founders Note: Today on the blog we have our dear friend Katrina. She sent us her post via email and we instantly responded that we were definitely going to use it! Today she is sharing her heart on this months theme beauty, so we hope you are encouraged by her post as much as we were!  So be sure to check out her designs and blog, cause she's awesome!  "You look beautiful!" Cue the eye roll, an excuse or a denial, and if you're lucky, there's a quiet "thank you" slipped in there to keep from being rude. Sound familiar? I've had too many of these encounters, and have even found myself delivering the eye roll to a well-meaning friend.  Why is it so hard to take a compliment like this? " Tell Me I'm Pretty " I find it interesting how Satan will turn the most beautiful things ( I'm talking about  you  here, by the way ) into a twisted, backwards appearance of the truth in our minds?  We no longer see the ...

Finding Comfort in the "Waiting Room"

Founders Note: Today's post is written by our new friend Brooke. Her blog is called "Living as a Single Gal". (you can find the link below) We've just discovered Brooke's blog and we look forward to unwrapping more of the great wisdom she has to share. Without further ado, here is her post... Imagine, if you will, that you are in a waiting room. The room is crowded; people standing, people on chairs, people sitting on the floor; this room is totally packed full. And all of these people are waiting. Waiting for what you may ask? That’s simple; love. You are standing in a corner with some of your girlfriends having some laughs. Then one of them gets called out of the room. Then another. Then another; another one bites the dust. One by one all of your single girlfriends are leaving the waiting room and finding true love. Not only are your friends leaving you, but the rest room seems to empty out significantly. And then there’s you. --...
