Devotional Monday: Abide in Him

John 15:4-5

Remain in me, as I also remain in you. No branch can bear fruit by itself; it must remain in the vine. Neither can you bear fruit unless you remain in me. I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing."


When I read a testimony on She reads truth, I instantly thought of the verse above because it was talking about abiding in him and as the video Hillary posted mentioned embracing your season of life. This week God has been teaching me just that, to embrace my season of life. To embrace the season that God  has put me in and to trust in his plans because they are far greater than my own. Ephesians 2:10 reminds us of just that, "For we are God's workmanship,created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared advance for us to do", Rest in this truth for a moment. It's so easy to compare our lives to others and wish that we had their life. But the truth is God created us in his image, and with his plans in mind for our lives and not our own. John 15:4-5 reminds us that apart from him we can do nothing, and that when we stop comparing our season of life to others and abide in him that is where we embrace the season that he has us in right now, weather it be singleness, marriage...etc. I encourage you to remember the truth that Ephesians 2:10 and John 15:4-5 reminds us of, and embrace what God has created in advance for each and every one of us, no matter where we are. Never forget that God always meets us right where we are at no matter the situation, circumstance, or season of life. Embrace what God has planned for you, and praise him each day for where you are instead of wishing you were somewhere else.

Four Tips for Creating Community through Blogging

1. Reach out to other bloggers:  this is an  essential when wanting to get into community. It can be as small as a comment on their blog, or an email. I have built relationships with other bloggers through email, commenting on their blogs, etc. For me it has been a beneficial thing, to create community in something that I really didn't know there was any.   This is a great post on why bloggers need community.  2. Join a blog group on Facebook, or some other social media group: I have joined the Peony Project on facebook which is a group for other christian bloggers. It's a great group and i would definitely recommend it!  3. Being Content

Content, As christian women we here that word more times than we can count, especially in a season of waiting. Content is defined as,   pleased and satisfied : not needing more.  Have you been in a season in your life where your feel like you are just waiting? Waiting for a new job, waiting for things to get better, waiting for marriage, etc. Whatever you are waiting for, sometimes it just seems like it's taking forever just like a long line at the grocery store.  When I think about being content, my thoughts instantly go to being content in my singleness. How many times have we heard the cliche lines like "just wait, God's got it" said by well meaning people, only to make you feel worse. There was a time in my life where it was so hard to hear all of those lines without just wanting to cry, because like I said it made me feel worse rather than better.  That is when I would get discontent in waiting,  sometimes I feel like i am in this never-endin

Blogging Goals 2015

It's a New Year and with that brings a new season of blogging.  I can't believe it's been two years since we started this blog. It's grown so much, and  I am excited to see where it goes this year as we continue to grow and change.
