When I read the verse below in a devotional I was reminded of Jesus's sacrifice on the cross for each and every one of us. As John tells us, "God did not send his son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him." Think about that for a moment. God sent his only son into the world to love us, to go after our heart, and to embody his character and not the character that the world says we should have. During Lent God has been teaching me a lot about my worth in him. He's been showing me that my worth doesn't come from the "things" of this world but it comes from the love and grace that he provides for me each and every moment of every day. To him sisters we are so worth it. In Matthew 10:30-32 it says--"And even the hairs on your head are numbered. So do not be afraid; you are worth more than many sparrows. Whoever acknowledges me before others, I will also acknowledge before my father in Heaven". Think about that for a minute, you and I are worth more than many sparrows and each of the hairs on our head are numbered...rest in that. On the cross Jesus sacrificed his life for our sins. He did that for you and I because we were worth it to him. In his sight we are more precious than rubies. Rest in that truth as you go throughout this week, rest in the fact that you are worth it sister! And as we come up on Easter in the next couple weeks, remember his sacrifice on the cross for each and every one of us. Rest in his love and in the fact he tells us that we are worth it every time, no matter what we say or do. He loves us all the same.
John 3:17-18 (NIV)
"For God did not send his son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him. Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe stands condemned already because they have not believed in the name of God's one and only son"
1 Peter 1:7 (NIV)
"These have come so that the proven genuineness of your faith—of greater worth than gold, which perishes even though refined by fire—may result in praise, glory and honor when Jesus Christ is revealed." ---soak up this verse sisters, rest your weary soul in it.
