Devotional Monday: Worth More than Gold.

Today I want to talk to you about worth, simply because it has been on my heart and mind all week. Our self worth is something that can sometimes easily be shot, especially when someone or something makes us think that we are not worth it. However, the truth is, those are all lies that the world is putting inside our head because sisters, you and I are always worth it to God. He will never walk away and say, "oh I tried, but she wasn't worth it". He will always be right beside us letting us know that no matter what we do, we are always worth it to him, no matter the cost. 1 Peter 1:7, 1 Peter 3:4 both talk about worth, 1 Peter 1:7 tells us that are faith is of greater worth than gold. In God's eyes we are worth more than gold, we are precious in his sight. Nothing and no-one can take that away from us, his love is unchanging--just as I mentioned last week when we were talking about singleness.  Once we get to chapter 3 of 1 Peter verse 3:4 tells us that God sees great worth in "the unfading beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is of great worth in God's sight."

The commentary on this verse says--"More especially, the finest ornament of Christian women is a meek and quiet spirit, a tractable easy temper of mind, void of passion, pride, and immoderate anger, discovering itself in a quiet obliging behavior towards their husbands and families"- Matthew Henry's Commentary

So sisters, remember as you go throughout this week that you are worth so much more than the world says we are, don't listen to the lies that it tells you. Cause sisters you ARE worth more than Gold, just as 1 Peter 1:7 tells us.  Don't let anyone tell you anything different, don't lose sight of your worth in the world, find your worth in the one who created you. Rest in that as you go throughout the rest of your week and be encouraged by his word.

"These have come so that the proven genuineness of your faith—of greater worth than gold, which perishes even though refined by fire—may result in praise, glory and honor when Jesus Christ is revealed"---1 Peter 1:7 (NIV)
"Rather, it should be that of your inner self, the unfading beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is of great worth in God’s sight"-- 1 Peter 3:4 (NIV)

Founders Note: Today on the blog we have one of our August sponsors Madison of The Wetherills Say I Do . She is also one of my blogging friends, I have enjoyed working with her this month and am excited to continue in the future, she is a sweet girl with a big heart for others and Jesus! Today She is sharing her heart on this months theme: Beauty in the Brokenness. So be sure to check out her blog at the links below! If you've ever heard a group of people share their testimonies, a lot of them have a common thread: brokenness. A lot of now believers had to come to a very low point in their lives before they had their breaking moment of calling out to Jesus. Have you ever wondered why that is? Why is it that so many of us have to hit rock bottom before we'll realize our infinite need for a Savior? I don't know the answer to that question, but I do know that in my darkest moments, I've seen the Lord hand out grace and turn brokenness into beauty. We all tend t...

Four Tips for Creating Community through Blogging

1. Reach out to other bloggers:  this is an  essential when wanting to get into community. It can be as small as a comment on their blog, or an email. I have built relationships with other bloggers through email, commenting on their blogs, etc. For me it has been a beneficial thing, to create community in something that I really didn't know there was any.   This is a great post on why bloggers need community.  2. Join a blog group on Facebook, or some other social media group: I have joined the Peony Project on facebook which is a group for other christian bloggers. It's a great group and i would definitely recommend it!  3. Make meaningful comments: when I say meaningful comments I don't mean that you have to write a novel, but at least engage with the post somehow. Check out Madison's post on how to comment on blogs to find out more.  4. Plan a blogger Meetup : ...
