Devotional Monday: Control

 This month as we have talked about singleness, we have covered how to make the most of singleness in a guest post from Erin at Sweetness Itself,  And one from Kiki at In His time on community and singleness. But we haven't touched on control, you may be asking what does that have to do with singleness? But it does, cause all of us at one time or another had a plan, what age we were going to get married, have kids..etc. All of these things are "plans" that we make up so that we can have control. Control over when we will get married, control over our lives. All of this so called "control" seems a little exhausting, and when it's all said and done we come to realize that we cannot do it on our own. When we decide to give up our "control" God is right there to take our weary, exhausted self's and let us know that he's got it. Singleness is a season where we are able to become the godly women that God calls us to be, it's a season where we can totally and completely focus on God without anything else in the way, it's a season that may last for a short time or long time. Sisters, no matter how long or how short your season of singleness lasts remember to trust that God has it all figured out, and rest in the verse below knowing that no matter what God's plan is for your life, don't be afraid to give up the control and let him take the pen and script his plans for your life, no matter what season you are in.

 1 Chronicles 29:11-13
"Yours, Lord, is the greatness and the power
    and the glory and the majesty and the splendor,
    for everything in heaven and earth is yours.
Yours, Lord, is the kingdom;
    you are exalted as head over all.
12 Wealth and honor come from you;
    you are the ruler of all things.
In your hands are strength and power
    to exalt and give strength to all.
13 Now, our God, we give you thanks,
    and praise your glorious name."

If you've ever heard a group of people share their testimonies, a lot of them have a common thread: brokenness. A lot of now believers had to come to a very low point in their lives before they had their breaking moment of calling out to Jesus. Have you ever wondered why that is? Why is it that so many of us have to hit rock bottom before we'll realize our infinite need for a Savior? I don't know the answer to that question, but I do know that in my darkest moments, I've seen the Lord hand out grace and turn brokenness into beauty. We all tend t...

Finding Comfort in the "Waiting Room"

Founders Note: Today's post is written by our new friend Brooke. Her blog is called "Living as a Single Gal". (you can find the link below) We've just discovered Brooke's blog and we look forward to unwrapping more of the great wisdom she has to share. Without further ado, here is her post... Imagine, if you will, that you are in a waiting room. The room is crowded; people standing, people on chairs, people sitting on the floor; this room is totally packed full. And all of these people are waiting. Waiting for what you may ask? That’s simple; love. You are standing in a corner with some of your girlfriends having some laughs. Then one of them gets called out of the room. Then another. Then another; another one bites the dust. One by one all of your single girlfriends are leaving the waiting room and finding true love. Not only are your friends leaving you, but the rest room seems to empty out significantly. And then there’s you. --...
