We're All in This Together

Founders Note: Today on the blog is Kiki, we connected when we asked her about sponsoring our blog. When we read her blog we instantly wanted to ask her to guest post because she shared our passion for encouraging women. So here's some of her thoughts on singleness and we hope you are encouraged by them as much as we were.

We're All in This Together If you're a twenty-something (or younger), you might recognize that post title from High School Musical. And yes, I did just go there.  And while I could talk about all of the times I spent singing and harmonizing to those catchy Disney songs, I will refrain from it today and instead share what that song has to do with my heart, my blog, and my love for Jesus Christ. There's something powerful about the blogging community, amiright? When I first started blogging, I was shocked to read that other bloggers made lifelong friends over the internet. I mean, really? The internet seemed like a weird place to meet people, let alone befriend people. And yet, here I am, blogging and meeting other bloggers who not only share my love for Jesus but who can also relate to me on so many levels. And all of these lovely ladies are women I now consider friends. One of the topics that's nearest and dearest to my heart is singleness. Before blogging, I thought I was alone in this struggle. I've had friends who were dating, engaged, and/or married since high school and it was a struggle for me to get through my days (Facebook especially) without feeling lonely and envious. It was hard. And I struggled. And I turned to envy and worry instead of Him. But after I started blogging from the heart, I found myself sharing more and more about singleness. And that's when I realized that I'm not alone. I may not have a ring on my finger, but I have a Savior in my life and countless friends who encourage, pray, and share my singleness experiences.

So that's where this song title comes in. We're all in this together, ladies. You're not alone and you don't have to keep your struggles to yourself. Because in my experience, when you open up your heart, Jesus, friends, and loved ones quickly fill it up. And that's why I'm encouraging you to reach out to your support system when you're struggling (or even rejoicing!). If you're a blog reader, reach out to a blogger. If you're a blogger, reach out to your blog readers. We weren't created to live out our lives alone. God created friends for a reason, amen? And not only do we have one another, but we have Jesus. He wants you to come to Him and share what's on your heart. Share it in a prayer, a journal, or a midnight worship session. He's there for you and He wants to be a part of your life. In fact, He's there for us 24/7. Talk about an amazing support system!  Speaking of support systems, this blog here, is definitely one of them! So a special thank you to Britney and Hillary. Thank you for your dedication to encouraging others women and creating such a wonderful environment for fellow bloggers like me.

  2. Beautiful post, Kiki! So many Christians forget how much the Bible encourages, praises, and supports singleness! While being married is WONDERFUL and can absolutely help to grow couples closer to Christ, being single can do this as well. It's all about what He's called you to. Some for marriage, some for singleness (some to experience both in their lifetimes!) Thank you for sharing your heart with us today. :-)

Fear is a Liar: Lessons From the Playground

Lately God has been working on my heart in regards to fear and trust. Today we took my niece to the playground and I wanted to share some of my reflections on our time there today.   The BIG Blue Slide Today I went down the BIG Blue slide. It is the tallest and fastest slide at the playground. I went down the slide because I had been following my 4-year-old niece around and I didn't feel much like climbing back down the ladders we had climbed to get up to the top.  Partly because they didn't seem that easy to get back down (especially for an adult), and partly because the temperature outside was quickly approaching 90 degrees and it was easier to slide then climb back down in the heat. As I sat down at the top of the slide, I had no fear, but I wasn't too much in the mood to be sliding. So, reluctantly, I let go of the sides and pushed myself through the tunnel. What I didn't expect was to not like the slide so much that I let out a scream. Yes, you heard
