Devotional Monday:Dwelling Place

Psalm 27:4 says, "One thing I ask from the Lord, this only do I seek: that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, to gaze on the beauty of the Lord and to seek him in his temple."
As we have talked about beauty the past few weeks. We have talked about, what beauty is, God's beauty, and we had a guest post on being made in God's image. So today I want to talk about how God is a dwelling place and how Psalm 27:4 relates that to beauty.

Many times it is said throughout the bible that God is our dwelling place, when I think of a "dwelling place" i think of a home or safe place to find rest and comfort when we need it most. At the end of a long day at work sometimes we just want to go home because that is one place where we find rest and comfort, it is our dwelling place.

When we curl up under our favorite blanket with our bible, journal, and devotional book- that is where we dwell with God and mediate on the beauty that his word provides for us. The first part of Psalm 27:4 says it best, "One thing I ask from the Lord, this only do I seek: that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life." Think about that for a second. God longs for us to make him a dwelling place and seek him all the days of our lives, every single day he is calling us to that place of beauty in him. Sisters, beauty is not only found in God but it is found in dwelling with God, soaking up all that he has for us  and falling more in love with him everyday.

Psalm 90:17 says, "May the beauty of the Lord our God rest on us; establish the work of our hands for us--yes, establish the work of our hands." This verse is an awesome reminder of resting in God's beauty and making him our dwelling place, rest in the truth that this verse provides sisters. Rest in his beauty and rest in him.

The Wetherills Say I Do | Guest Post

Founders Note: Today on the blog we have one of our August sponsors Madison of The Wetherills Say I Do . She is also one of my blogging friends, I have enjoyed working with her this month and am excited to continue in the future, she is a sweet girl with a big heart for others and Jesus! Today She is sharing her heart on this months theme: Beauty in the Brokenness. So be sure to check out her blog at the links below! If you've ever heard a group of people share their testimonies, a lot of them have a common thread: brokenness. A lot of now believers had to come to a very low point in their lives before they had their breaking moment of calling out to Jesus. Have you ever wondered why that is? Why is it that so many of us have to hit rock bottom before we'll realize our infinite need for a Savior? I don't know the answer to that question, but I do know that in my darkest moments, I've seen the Lord hand out grace and turn brokenness into beauty. We all tend t...

Imagine, if you will, that you are in a waiting room. The room is crowded; people standing, people on chairs, people sitting on the floor; this room is totally packed full. And all of these people are waiting. Waiting for what you may ask? That’s simple; love. You are standing in a corner with some of your girlfriends having some laughs. Then one of them gets called out of the room. Then another. Then another; another one bites the dust. One by one all of your single girlfriends are leaving the waiting room and finding true love. Not only are your friends leaving you, but the rest room seems to empty out significantly. And then there’s you. --...
