I opened up my instagram feed the other night before bed. In natural habit, I let my finger swipe through the feed full of puppies, spring flowers, and cute kids. I liked a few photos here and there and continued through my feed like normal. But then I came across an instagram of a line from a church song I recognized. My finger stopped the feed from scrolling and slowly slid the image to fit the view of my little screen. I read it, liked the photo, and that's when the words sunk in. Here's my heart, Lord. Take and seal it. That one line from David Crowder Band's song suddenly hit home and it hit hard. You see, my heart has never been taken by or given to a man. I've never been on a date, never received a bouquet of flowers, never held hands and had my foot pop when kissed. I've never even been kissed. And while that list could go on and on--and bring a bout of sadness, too—there's one thing that I do have. And it's something that you have too, despite your relationship status. We have control over giving God our hearts. To me, that lyric means making sure God's in control of my future. Making sure He comes first no matter my relationship status, and making sure He's the one writing my love story (and making sure I don't try and steal back the pen in the process!). It means not just letting Him write my love story, but letting Him take my heart and seal it for what He has in store for me. Letting Him seal it and help me from turning to sin instead of Him. Sins like jealousy, fear, pride, worry, or regret. And it means letting Him seal it for a truly Godly man. A man that loves Him and will turn to Him for guidance and knowledge. The man that I hope He's written into my future. Giving God my heart also means letting Him fill it with things in His heart, too. A heart for orphans. For family and for friends. For volunteering. For teaching. And even for this thing called blogging. It's making sure that whatever I do and whoever I love is something that will shine His light and show others who's really got my heart. So here's my heart, Lord, take and seal it. Seal it for Thy courts above.
