Training for Beauty

Founders note: Today on the blog we have one of our sponsors Charity from her blog Word of a Nerd. We connected when we found her blog and immediately loved it! So i asked her to guest post! Today she is sharing her thoughts on this months theme beauty, we hope you are encouraged as much as we were by her wonderful post! Be sure to check out her blog at the links below!

I don't know about you but I just love to be told that I am beautiful. I also love to feel beautiful - beautiful from my head down to my toes. However I don't always hit the mark on feeling beautiful externally and for some reason those are the days when I get the most compliments. Sometimes a stranger in Starbucks will walk up to me and say you are beautiful or an old lady in the subway will tell me you are lovely. These compliments always rock me because on those days I am feeling the opposite of what they see.

So what are they seeing? Perhaps the Lord has allowed them to see something that isn't visible externally because God is not concerned about our outward appearances. God cares about a pure heart, a gentle and quiet spirit.

What good is it to be well dress and completely broken in the inside? Nothing of this world is eternal, clothes deteriorate, our bodies grow old and external beauty fades. God doesn't see our fine clothes, jewelry, make up or nice abs. God sees the eternal, he sees our spirit and he cares about our growth. These things have value, these things have benefits, these things are beautiful to him. Alas I leave you with this "Physical training is good, but training for godliness is much better, promising benefits in this life and in the life to come." - 1 Timothy 4:8 NLT
So focus on being loving, gentle, selfless, and pure - spend your time training to be internally Beautiful.

Meet Charity: Hello There. I'm Charity and I blog over at The Word of A Nerd. I am a professional photographer, but I take pride in being a part time Homemaker as well. On my blog I share about my life as I Eat, Pray, and Love. I enjoy writing about cooking and baking, my love for Christ, my life as a wife, and every now and again an awesome DIY project. I am thrilled to be posting here at the Quiet Place today and I hope to encourage some of you beautiful ladies in your walk with Christ.

  3. I find internal beauty to be the best kind of beauty to have. I strive to have a beautiful heart, after all that's what really counts. Some people only see external beauty, but God looks inward. I want to have beautiful eyes that see the best in people, a beauty voice that encourages people, a beautiful smile that welcomes people, and a beautiful heart that loves people. Thank you for sharing. I really enjoyed reading your post.

Four Tips for Creating Community through Blogging

1. Reach out to other bloggers:  this is an  essential when wanting to get into community. It can be as small as a comment on their blog, or an email. I have built relationships with other bloggers through email, commenting on their blogs, etc. For me it has been a beneficial thing, to create community in something that I really didn't know there was any.   This is a great post on why bloggers need community.  2. Join a blog group on Facebook, or some other social media group: I have joined the Peony Project on facebook which is a group for other christian bloggers. It's a great group and i would definitely recommend it!  3. Make meaningful comments: when I say meaningful comments I don't mean that you have to write a novel, but at least engage with the post somehow. Check out Madison's post on how to comment on blogs to find out more.  4. Plan a blogger Meetup : If you there

Blogging Goals 2015

It's a New Year and with that brings a new season of blogging.  I can't believe it's been two years since we started this blog. It's grown so much, and  I am excited to see where it goes this year as we continue to grow and change. This year I have some exciting new content in store for you all, which i will explain in more detail below. 1. Around The Table Linkup: This is a linkup that I am personally really excited about. It's going to be a linkup where there's a theme for each month, but I may do some months without a theme. Anyway, each month me and my co-host will share a recipe that we use to create community around our tables. And you will have a chance to link it up! I am currently booked with co-hosts until October, but I am looking to fill November and December. So if you are interested email me at: britney.thequietplace@gmail.com and I can give you more information. 2. Blogging Tips: I would like to start posting some blogging tips this year,

Being Content

Content, As christian women we here that word more times than we can count, especially in a season of waiting. Content is defined as,   pleased and satisfied : not needing more.  Have you been in a season in your life where your feel like you are just waiting? Waiting for a new job, waiting for things to get better, waiting for marriage, etc. Whatever you are waiting for, sometimes it just seems like it's taking forever just like a long line at the grocery store.  When I think about being content, my thoughts instantly go to being content in my singleness. How many times have we heard the cliche lines like "just wait, God's got it" said by well meaning people, only to make you feel worse. There was a time in my life where it was so hard to hear all of those lines without just wanting to cry, because like I said it made me feel worse rather than better.  That is when I would get discontent in waiting,  sometimes I feel like i am in this never-endin
