According to dictionary.com, Self Worth is the sense of
one's own value as a person. In other words, self worth is how
we see our personal value.
How do you see your own value as a person? Do
you feel that you have value? What gives you your value? How do you define your
value?
After answering these questions for yourself,
maybe you feel the need for some assistance in the area of Self Worth. Then you
came to the right place ;) Below are just some of the verses that demonstrate
how much God values you.
Titus 3:5
He came to save us.
It’s not that we earned it by
doing good works or righteous deeds; He came because He is merciful. He brought
us out of our old ways of living to
a new beginning through the washing of regeneration; and He made us completely
new through the Holy Spirit,
God brought us salvation because "He is
merciful" meaning that God brought us salvation because he chose to show us
mercy. Therefore, God shows us mercy because we are worth enough to him to be
redeemed. God values us enough to redeem us, to make us new. God values us
enough to experience life as we experience it and to sacrifice that life so we
can have an opportunity to experience eternal life in Heaven.
Hebrews 13:5
Keep
your lives free from the love of money, and be content with what you have
because He has said, “I will never leave you; I will always be by your side.”
God values you enough that he promises to never
leave you or forsake you.
Luke 12:6-7
Are not five
sparrows sold for two pennies? Yet not one of them is forgotten by God. Indeed,
the very hairs of your head are all numbered. Don’t be afraid; you are worth more than many sparrows.
Matthew 26:41
But God demonstrates
his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.
I have great news
friends! God values YOU!!!
But how do we use
God's value for us to value ourselves? I think this next passage says it
well.
Acts 10:9-16
About noon the following day as they were on
their journey and approaching the city, Peter went up on the roof to pray. He
became hungry and wanted something to eat, and while the meal was being
prepared, he fell into a trance. He saw heaven opened and something
like a large sheet being let down to earth by its four corners. It
contained all kinds of four-footed animals, as well as reptiles and birds. Then a voice told
him, “Get up, Peter. Kill and eat.”
“Surely not, Lord!” Peter replied. “I have
never eaten anything impure or unclean.”
The voice spoke to him a second time, “Do
not call anything impure that God has made clean.”
This
happened three times, and immediately the sheet was taken back to heaven.
“Do not call anything impure that God
has made clean.” This includes you! If God has made you clean, you are indeed
clean!!! It's time to claim your cleanliness (i.e. your self worth). A great
way to do that is through prayer. On our own, it is very difficult to change
the way we value ourselves but with God all things are possible.
