Devotional Monday: In the Waiting

Isn't it hard when we just want to get to the next step? or we just feel stuck in the season of waiting or singleness, whatever it may be.

For me lately, I've been struggling with the singleness, thinking when's my turn, why everyone else (younger than me even) and not me.  Even though I do not feel this way all time, most of the time I am content. Knowing that in my singleness God is doing good things, and i am truly grateful for this time in my life.

But sometimes it is hard, and then I read this post by of one our awesome monthly contributors, and I am brought back to what this season of life is all about: trusting in his plans, and putting him first, even when we are in that season of waiting. waiting for this season of singleness to end, even though this time in our lives is truly a gift, and we should be soaking up every minute of it. It's still hard, it's hard not knowing what's next and yet wanting to know.

If you know me, i am not a patient person when it comes to waiting, and in this season of singleness, that's what it feels like. But I know that in spite of the ache of waiting upon my heart, putting my trust in his plans and his timing is always best. In those times, I am reminded that only he can satisfy the desires of my heart, and that he loves me more than I could even imagine. He loves me in my pain, in my brokenness and in my longing.

Isaiah 40:31 says, "but those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint."

With the words of the verse above I am reminded of what this season of singleness is all about, putting my trust in him, and being content in, and knowing that in his time everything will come together.

Being Content

Content, As christian women we here that word more times than we can count, especially in a season of waiting. Content is defined as,   pleased and satisfied : not needing more.  Have you been in a season in your life where your feel like you are just waiting? Waiting for a new job, waiting for things to get better, waiting for marriage, etc. Whatever you are waiting for, sometimes it just seems like it's taking forever just like a long line at the grocery store.  When I think about being content, my thoughts instantly go to being content in my singleness. How many times have we heard the cliche lines like "just wait, God's got it" said by well meaning people, only to make you feel worse. There was a time in my life where it was so hard to hear all of those lines without just wanting to cry, because like I said it made me feel worse rather than better.  That is when I would get discontent in waiting,  sometimes I feel like i am in this never...

Beauty out of Brokenness

1 Samuel 16:7  So as you may know, this months theme here on the Quiet Place is beauty in the brokenness and it's one of those topics that I personally just want to flesh out and be real with you all. Merriam Webster defines beauty as :  the quality or aggregate of qualities in a person or thing that gives pleasure to the senses or pleasurably exalts the mind or spirit. And brokenness is a place that each of us has been in at one time or another.  For me personally I would say that I find beauty in the brokenness in my life, in the seasons that I am in. Weather it be singleness, loss, etc. There's always that feeling that nothing will ever change, but then one day you begin to find beauty in it.  Singleness has always been on of those things for me, that I share a lot about both here and on my personal blog but it's something that I've always seen as a  line between something that is beautiful and just plain hard. I have emailed back and fort...
