Happy August! This month's theme is...
I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit in you; I will remove from you your heart of stone and give you a heart of flesh.
Ezekiel 36:26
This is one of the first verses that I came across when I started out to write this post. At first I wasn't sure how I would relate it to this month's theme, but after some thought, I've realized that this verse is perfect for August.
If you've been keeping up with the blog, you have probably heard me mention about a thousand times this year that life has been a bit hard for me. A lot of that has to do with what God has been doing in my heart. During my time at Grad school, God brought me out into the wilderness where I was alone. And as you can imagine, being alone is a really difficult thing. Some say that loneliness is the worst feeling in the world to live with. But what I realize now is that God brought me to that broken place so that he could begin to heal my heart.
That is where this verse fits in, God took my heart burdened by bondage and made it new. And that my sisters, is a grace I never thought that I would experience. You see I was so stuck that I didn't see myself ever being able to get out of the place that I was in. Yet, God in his great mercy, showed love to me and released my heart from slavery.
Now just a little over 7 months later, I praise God because he has brought my heart to the coolest place. A place where He is able to make me new day-by-day. A place where my heart is right with him. A place that I only ever hoped I would be.
And you know what? He wants to do the same thing for you.
So if you've found yourself lost, discouraged, and sunken into the depths, enslaved by sin, don't despair. Ask God for help. He wants to help you. He DOES love you. AND he WILL heal your heart.
John 14:12-14
12 Very truly I tell you, whoever believes in me will do the works I have been doing, and they will do even greater things than these, because I am going to the Father. 13 And I will do whatever you ask in my name, so that the Father may be glorified in the Son. 14 You may ask me for anything in my name, and I will do it.
