Refreshment Through Repentance

Founders Note: Today on the blog we have are monthly contributor Courtney, she is sharing her heart on this month's theme Repentance. You can learn more about Courtney on are about page.

Have you ever felt consumed by guilt? Is the weight of your sin pressing against you? You feel like you can't escape it. You feel like everywhere you turn you are confronted with your sin.
Have you ever felt like there was a brick wall between you and the Lord? You pray, but you just do not feel close to the Lord. You cry out, but there seems to be no answer.
I have been there. I have been crushed by the weight of my sin. I have cried out to the Lord, but felt no answer.
I have turned to Scripture and asked, "Why?!" What is happening?
Often, I am in this place because I have not repented.
Acts 3:19 says, "Therefore repent and return, so that your sins may be wiped away, in order that times of refreshing may come from the presence of the Lord."
The Lord graciously provides forgiveness when we repent. No matter how many times we sin and repent, the Lord forgives us.
I remember hearing the saying one time, "No matter how many steps you take away from the Lord, it is only one step back." This phrase captures a sliver of how incredible this is. We can instantly experience a restored relationship with the the Lord through repentance.
The Lord totally wipes away our guilt when we repent. The removal of guilt is so complete that He does not even remember it any more. No matter how unfaithful we are, God is faithful.
As it says in the passage 1 John 1:9,
If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
We repent because we are called to as believers. We repent so that we can experience unhindered communion with the Lord. We repent so that we can be refreshed in Him.

  1. A great reminder. We need to repent or our hearts can slowly become hard toward our sin.

The Wetherills Say I Do | Guest Post

Founders Note: Today on the blog we have one of our August sponsors Madison of The Wetherills Say I Do . She is also one of my blogging friends, I have enjoyed working with her this month and am excited to continue in the future, she is a sweet girl with a big heart for others and Jesus! Today She is sharing her heart on this months theme: Beauty in the Brokenness. So be sure to check out her blog at the links below! If you've ever heard a group of people share their testimonies, a lot of them have a common thread: brokenness. A lot of now believers had to come to a very low point in their lives before they had their breaking moment of calling out to Jesus. Have you ever wondered why that is? Why is it that so many of us have to hit rock bottom before we'll realize our infinite need for a Savior? I don't know the answer to that question, but I do know that in my darkest moments, I've seen the Lord hand out grace and turn brokenness into beauty. We all tend t...

Four Tips for Creating Community through Blogging

1. Reach out to other bloggers:  this is an  essential when wanting to get into community. It can be as small as a comment on their blog, or an email. I have built relationships with other bloggers through email, commenting on their blogs, etc. For me it has been a beneficial thing, to create community in something that I really didn't know there was any.   This is a great post on why bloggers need community.  2. Join a blog group on Facebook, or some other social media group: I have joined the Peony Project on facebook which is a group for other christian bloggers. It's a great group and i would definitely recommend it!  3. Make meaningful comments: when I say meaningful comments I don't mean that you have to write a novel, but at least engage with the post somehow. Check out Madison's post on how to comment on blogs to find out more.  4. Plan a blogger Meetup : ...
