Bible Gateway

I just wanted to take a minute and brag about how much I LOVE Bible Gateway. Seriously though, it makes my blogging life pretty amazing. What I have been especially loving lately is highlighting when reading through passages. I love that I can use different colors to coordinate my notes! It helps me to break everything down and understand what the meaning behind the verses are and what God is saying to me through them. If you haven't heard of www.biblegateway.com before I would definitely encourage you to check it out! They have TONS of great resources for Bible reading and studying all at your fingertips! Literally your fingertips, they have a great app that you can download for your smartphone. I really enjoy using the app to listen to scripture and to look up references on the go. AND just in case you didn't know, we are a Bible Gateway Blogger Grid Member!!! You can check out the Blogger Grid by clicking the button on are right hand sidebar (Note: you may need to scr

Ladies & Babies

Me & My Sister Founders Note: Today on the blog I am finally posting something I wrote a few weeks ago. This month has been SO busy and God has placed SO much on my heart to share with you that it has taken some time to get to it AND being the perfectionist that I am, I felt the need to note the time lapse. Nonetheless, I hope you enjoy what I have written... :) Reflecting on this past weekend's events I am feeling so very blessed to have such a wonderful community of people to surround me. As I supported my sister this weekend at her baby shower, I was running around like crazy trying to get things done and help everything go smoothly during the party. It was so rewarding to have that time to celebrate a new baby in the family with the love and support of are family and friends. It was touching to receive the generosity from the people that surround my family in many different settings on daily basis. Having that time together with everyone that supports my sister and

Somebody To Lean On

Founders Note: Today on the blog we have are monthly contributor Sophia, she is sharing her heart on this month's theme community. You can learn more about Sophia and her blog on the about page.  I went to church this past  Friday  for something that our church calls Impact Night.  Impact Night is where we go before prophetic ministers and we receive a personal message from God.  As I went, I received a unexpected but much needed message.  She told me that I had trust issues, and that I do not trust anyone.   It was easy for me to get offended by this message and at first I was.  But there was a deeper meaning behind this message that I felt God wanted me to reflect on. She told me  that the reason why I am going through what I am going through is because this is something that God wants to fix in me.  You see, I am a loner.  I really am, and I prefer to be this way.  If I have a problem, I lean on myself to fix it.  I do not like to rely on anyone else but me someti

Q+A : Meet Mariel

Founders Note:(Britney)Today on the blog we have Mariel of Living for his Glory . I have enjoyed getting to know her and  her awesome blog this month. So today she is sharing a little bit more about it with you. I love her cookbook post here , and her posts on her adorable daughter are so fun to read as well. 1. Tell me a little bit about the story behind Living for his glory? I started Living for His Glory as a newly married girl wanting to share our story with people. I believe the Lord has done a lot more than that through it. I've been blogging for over 2 years and in that time the blog has evolved into something I never thought possible. The Lord has truly used this place for His glory and every day I am reminded to blog for Him and not me. Sometimes that means sharing things I wouldn't want to share. It means putting myself aside to allow the Lord to use me through this blog! 2. How did you come up with your blog name? I wanted my blog to be all abou

I love her recipe posts , and her getting to know you posts are so fun to read! So be sure to check out her blog at the links below!                                      1. What's the story behind Simplicity Relished?   I was stuck writing my senior history thesis in a drafty library while it was blizzarding outside. Needless to say, I felt trapped. In that moment of desperation, I created Simplicity Relished as a space where I could be free to express myself with no boundaries or limitations. I only posted a few times for a while, and did not even tell anyone until about a month later! Now that I've been working on the blog for a while, the vision has come together a bit more coherently. I desire to share elements of a simple, creative and generous lifestyle through reflections, food, advice, and personal style. I'm hopin

It Is What You Make It (Part 1)

Weddings are pretty much the only way I get to see some of my closest friends these days. Which was okay at first but now that everyone is married, they don't happen as often. Sometimes I go as long as 1.5 years without being with my friends in person. And that can be really disappointing. Nevertheless, I am always glad to see them if only for a short time. It's worth the 400 mile drive to come and see my friends if but a few hours. Because I miss them, because I love them, and because I treasure their presence. These college friends of mine, which I’m speaking of, are the friends I was blessed to live with for four years in a deep knit community. We lived together, laughed together - oh did we laugh - and cried together - plenty of tears were shed those four years. But from that time in my life, what I miss the most is the presences of my friends and the deep community that we shared. I love that when we get together we are able to pick up right where we left off but m

On Community - Building

Founders Note: Today on the blog we have are monthly contributor Kiki! She is sharing her heart on this month's theme community. To find out more about Kiki and her beautiful blog check out her bio on the about page!  What is community, anyway? If you had asked me that very question a few years ago, I wouldn't have known how to answer that question. But ever since I started my personal blog and joined the blogging community, I don't even know where to start with that question. While there are thousands (if not millions) of blogs out there, there are also very real, very tight-knit, loving communities, too. Communities that are growing, thriving, and doing so much more than what you see on your computer screen. So how does one get involved in a community? As an introvert, that's something I'm hoping to learn myself. But as a writer, photographer, and blogger, I've learned a few ways that have helped me create and be a part of a community of bloggers, crea

Fellowship of Grace

Founders Note: Today on the blog we have are newest monthly contributor Melanie!!! Melanie is sharing her heart on this month's theme community. To find out more about Melanie and her awesome blog check out her bio on the about page!!! Fingerprinted on each our souls is a yearning to be fully known by others. As believers, that hunger stretches even further to experiencing the sweet aroma of Christ in community. Authentic spiritual community is often difficult to find within the body of believers. Obviously, on this side of heaven, even the best relationships are marred with stains of loneliness and imperfection. As someone who has expended numerous years in isolation from community, I now deeply value rich relationships.   It’s as if the darkness etched an immense craving on my soul to ache for light among the body of Christ.   The taste of beauty within relationships leaves me longing for more.   Through fellowship with others, we can get a glimpse of His

Community Brew : Seasons

Today I am linking up with Madison and Rachel for one of my favorite linkups, Community Brew . This months theme is seasons, so today I am sharing with you a little bit about what I have learned in my different seasons of life. What has God taught you about seasons in life? God has taught me so much about seasons of life, first I think that sometimes it's so easy to lose sight of whats ahead especially when your in a season of waiting, uncertainty, or struggle. He's taught me that he always meets me where I'm at no matter what I am going through, he is right there walking through it with me. Even in those seasons of waiting. He's taught me that he has a purpose for every season of my life and through that I find beauty in  the season.  How have you learned to move from one season to another? Moving from one season to another, has been all about prayer and soaking up his word. Joshua 1:9  says, " This is my command—be strong and courageous! Do

Community

What is community? Merriam Webster Dictionary defines community as: a group of people who live in the same area (such as city, town, or neighborhood).  A group of people who have the same interests, religion, race, etc. To me the things that make up community are the people sitting next to you in class, or your next store neighbor or neighbors. For me it was four people sitting next to me in class on the first day of Grad school, that is where I found some of my good friends here in Grad school. In undergrad it was the precious friendship with the three girls that lived on the floor above me. We encouraged each other, we cried together, and we talked about God together. It was amazing the community that was built during that time. Let me tell you those moments were precious, I miss those days when I could just walk upstairs and three of my friends were right there. Now they are all married and off in different directions, but they are still precious in my heart and my life, I th
