Q+A: Meet Daisy

                                   1. What's the story behind Simplicity Relished? 
I was stuck writing my senior history thesis in a drafty library while it was blizzarding outside. Needless to say, I felt trapped. In that moment of desperation, I created Simplicity Relished as a space where I could be free to express myself with no boundaries or limitations. I only posted a few times for a while, and did not even tell anyone until about a month later!

Now that I've been working on the blog for a while, the vision has come together a bit more coherently. I desire to share elements of a simple, creative and generous lifestyle through reflections, food, advice, and personal style. I'm hoping it will help us connect as young twenty-somethings trying to figure out how we ought to live!

                                              2. How long have you been blogging?
I started the blog in February of this year, but have only been blogging consistently since August. I wrote my hundredth post about a week ago!

                               3. Where do you see your blog going in the future?
That is a great question. For a while I was considering monetizing my blog more intentionally. However, I've found that when I have money on my mind, it is a huge temptation to focus on numbers-- stats, comments, and followers-- rather than on the wonderful people who are kind enough to read my work. So I'm simply hoping to continue to build community and meet new friends!


                              4. what's your favorite thanksgiving side dish?
Ooh that is tough. Thanksgiving is my absolute favorite holiday. Last year, we made prosciutto-wrapped figs stuffed with blue cheese as hors d'oeuvres and I fell in love. But I also adore apple pie! This year's recipe list is here, by the way!

                    5. Since this months theme is community, where do you find community?
I find community in being a part of God's family. We love our small group at church and are always having friends over to share meals together. Adjusting to living in a new place, and to being married, has become so much easier by the wonderful people who have surrounded us in the name of Jesus. I am so grateful to be doing life with this diverse group of friends!



                             6. what's your favorite type of blog post to write and why? 
I like sharing bits of encouragement and things to think about! My mind is really active and I'm always mulling over something, so this is a great way for me to channel those ideas into something useful and approachable. I also enjoy sharing recipes; my husband and I are total foodies and cooking is so relaxing for me.

Around The Table February \\ Favorite Soup Recipes

It's February and that means another around the table linkup, I am so excited to see where this linkup goes and the community it creates. This months theme is Favorite soup recipes, one of my favorite soup recipes is a Tomato Basil Soup recipe that I've had for a while now. I made it for my friends a couple weeks ago, and it was perfect with some bread that one of my friends brought. Ingredients: 3 cloves of garlic, minced 2 tablespoons of olive oil 2-14oz cans of crushed tomatoes 1-14oz can of whole tomato's 2 cups of stock (chicken or vegetable) 1 tsp of sea salt 1 tsp of sugar 1/2 tsp of fresh ground black pepper 1/4 cup of heavy cream 3 tablespoons of fresh basil Parmesan cheese for the top. Directions: In a saucepan, saute the garlic and olive oil on medium heat for about 1 minute but be careful not to burn the garlic. Next, add the crushed tomato's, then the whole tomatoes one at a time, squeezing them into the pan to break them up. Also add...

Travel Essentials

RelayRides  recently contacted us and wanted us to share our travel essentials. RelayRides is a peer to peer sharing car rental service that takes community into account when renting cars.
