“The life of the godly is not a straight line to glory, but they do get there.”
John Piper

Four falls ago, just before my 20th birthday, I had the opportunity to move to Plymouth, MA to complete my student teaching requirements. I was young and I had no idea what I was in for. It wasn’t always easy, but those months were nothing short of amazing.

About a week after I arrived, I had a stirring in my soul for the book of Ruth. After reading it several times, I got on to Desiring God LINK: http://www.desiringgod.org/ and typed “Ruth” into the search bar. My search returned a four part sermon series that would change my life.

I spent the month of September listening to those sermons and allowing them to guide my study. I began to see that sometimes circumstances and darkness happen, but we Christians have a hope in God that is not to be messed with.

Little did I know, the next few years were going to be rough. I didn’t go through those years very well, but with God’s Word and lots of help from His people (most of which have no idea what they did for me) I made it through. The time I spent studying the book of Ruth played a huge role in my life throughout all of it.

Those days are behind me and I have come to have a hope that runs deep. I can’t think about Ruth without thinking about the balm that it was in my soul. As I went through those years, I kept going back over the truth that I learned that September.

Whatever is happening in your life, these sermons will be so good for your soul. Check them out here:

The Wetherills Say I Do | Guest Post

Founders Note: Today on the blog we have one of our August sponsors Madison of The Wetherills Say I Do . She is also one of my blogging friends, I have enjoyed working with her this month and am excited to continue in the future, she is a sweet girl with a big heart for others and Jesus! Today She is sharing her heart on this months theme: Beauty in the Brokenness. So be sure to check out her blog at the links below! If you've ever heard a group of people share their testimonies, a lot of them have a common thread: brokenness. A lot of now believers had to come to a very low point in their lives before they had their breaking moment of calling out to Jesus. Have you ever wondered why that is? Why is it that so many of us have to hit rock bottom before we'll realize our infinite need for a Savior? I don't know the answer to that question, but I do know that in my darkest moments, I've seen the Lord hand out grace and turn brokenness into beauty. We all tend t...

Four Tips for Creating Community through Blogging

1. Reach out to other bloggers:  this is an  essential when wanting to get into community. It can be as small as a comment on their blog, or an email. I have built relationships with other bloggers through email, commenting on their blogs, etc. For me it has been a beneficial thing, to create community in something that I really didn't know there was any.   This is a great post on why bloggers need community.  2. Join a blog group on Facebook, or some other social media group: I have joined the Peony Project on facebook which is a group for other christian bloggers. It's a great group and i would definitely recommend it!  3. Make meaningful comments: when I say meaningful comments I don't mean that you have to write a novel, but at least engage with the post somehow. Check out Madison's post on how to comment on blogs to find out more.  4. Plan a blogger Meetup : ...
