Ruth | A Guest Post

Founders Note: Today on the blog we have a guest post from Tabitha. She is sharing her heart on this month's theme Ruth. You can learn more about Tabitha and her blog in her bio at the end of the post.

Naomi had to have been in a bad place – spiritually and emotionally. She had nothing left to give. In her mind, there was no hope for her or her daughter-in-laws. To think that the journey you must travel has to be done alone- it was a bitter pill to swallow indeed.

And yet, Ruth demands a place by Naomi’s side with no expectation of anything in return.

“When Naomi saw that Ruth had her heart set on going with her, she gave in.” Ruth 1:18

Ruth is the picture of Christ and of how the church is called to be – how we, as sisters in Christ, ought to demonstrate our love towards one another.

Even as Ruth lovingly chose to remain with Naomi, Naomi struggled with the reality of her hardships. As the pair entered in to town, she remained despondent and hopeless giving no credit to Ruth’s companionship. She was fully overwhelmed by her circumstances and unaware of how God was beginning to move on her behalf.

“But she said, don’t call me Naomi, call me Bitter. The Strong One has dealt me a bitter blow. I left here full of life, and God has brought me back with nothing but the clothes on my back.” Ruth 1: 20-21

Sometimes we are needed even when it isn’t said. When others go through tumultuous seasons of life, we are presented with a choice just as Ruth was. Our ministry can be made up of the walks that we take alongside others – even as they are bitter, struggling, imperfect, and hopeless.
God can use our steadfast yes to redeem the lives of others.

My hope for myself, for the body of Christ, is that we would be willing to yes to other’s messy lives and to sharing our own. We were meant to take this journey, not alone, but together.

Tabitha is wife to a wild at heart mountain man and mom to a six month old toe head. She is a part-time School Counselor, but is a writer at heart. She pours her thoughts out on her blog, Joyful Expectancy- a place of extravagant faith, hope, and joy found in everyday moments.

Today She is sharing her heart on this months theme: Beauty in the Brokenness. So be sure to check out her blog at the links below! If you've ever heard a group of people share their testimonies, a lot of them have a common thread: brokenness. A lot of now believers had to come to a very low point in their lives before they had their breaking moment of calling out to Jesus. Have you ever wondered why that is? Why is it that so many of us have to hit rock bottom before we'll realize our infinite need for a Savior? I don't know the answer to that question, but I do know that in my darkest moments, I've seen the Lord hand out grace and turn brokenness into beauty. We all tend t...

Finding Comfort in the "Waiting Room"

Founders Note: Today's post is written by our new friend Brooke. Her blog is called "Living as a Single Gal". (you can find the link below) We've just discovered Brooke's blog and we look forward to unwrapping more of the great wisdom she has to share. Without further ado, here is her post... Imagine, if you will, that you are in a waiting room. The room is crowded; people standing, people on chairs, people sitting on the floor; this room is totally packed full. And all of these people are waiting. Waiting for what you may ask? That’s simple; love. You are standing in a corner with some of your girlfriends having some laughs. Then one of them gets called out of the room. Then another. Then another; another one bites the dust. One by one all of your single girlfriends are leaving the waiting room and finding true love. Not only are your friends leaving you, but the rest room seems to empty out significantly. And then there’s you. --...
