Seeking Him First

Today on the blog we have are monthly contributor Kiki, she is sharing her heart on this month's theme Seeking God. You can learn more about Kiki and her blog on the about page.

SEEK

I'm obsessed with capturing the little moments and details in life and I will also proudly admit that. I love snapping photos of raindrops falling off leaves, steam rising from hot coffee, and my dog snoozing in the sun that streams through the windows in the morning.

I like searching for the little things in life that make life that much fuller. But do you know what I have a hard time truly seeking out?

Jesus. I forget that Jesus is in the details in life, or really, every single moment in life. That He's there, waiting to be found. But what do I do instead? I try and push Him away and think that I can do life all on my own.

But truth is, I can't. I can't do it on my own and I need Him in my life. And part of my need for Him includes my need (even if I don't know it at the moment) to seek Him in my life. To find Him when I'm hurting. To find Him when I'm joyful. And to find Him when I am lost.

I need to put Him first in my life and find Him just as I would find the little details in the viewfinder in my camera.

Jesus is there, I just have to take an extra moment to seek Him. And seek Him first and foremost in life, too.

  2. Beautiful, Kiki! Thanks so much for sharing this. I found myself last week crying out to God asking where He was....only to be gently reminded almost instantly that He is in ALL things. What a beautiful promise, one I hope I don't forget again.

    Thanks or sharing!

  4. Such a great post, Kiki!!!! I need to be reminded of this exact thing!

Jesus Christ came to save us from this tendency of ours to go through life without being enamored by the glory of our great God. By God's grace, we are being made to be more like this Savior of ours....As He sought the Father and His glory, so should we!!!

    Happy SEEKING to you, girl!

The Wetherills Say I Do | Guest Post

Founders Note: Today on the blog we have one of our August sponsors Madison of The Wetherills Say I Do . She is also one of my blogging friends, I have enjoyed working with her this month and am excited to continue in the future, she is a sweet girl with a big heart for others and Jesus! Today She is sharing her heart on this months theme: Beauty in the Brokenness. So be sure to check out her blog at the links below! If you've ever heard a group of people share their testimonies, a lot of them have a common thread: brokenness. A lot of now believers had to come to a very low point in their lives before they had their breaking moment of calling out to Jesus. Have you ever wondered why that is? Why is it that so many of us have to hit rock bottom before we'll realize our infinite need for a Savior? I don't know the answer to that question, but I do know that in my darkest moments, I've seen the Lord hand out grace and turn brokenness into beauty. We all tend t...

Finding Comfort in the "Waiting Room"

Founders Note: Today's post is written by our new friend Brooke. Her blog is called "Living as a Single Gal". (you can find the link below) We've just discovered Brooke's blog and we look forward to unwrapping more of the great wisdom she has to share. Without further ado, here is her post... Imagine, if you will, that you are in a waiting room. The room is crowded; people standing, people on chairs, people sitting on the floor; this room is totally packed full. And all of these people are waiting. Waiting for what you may ask? That’s simple; love. You are standing in a corner with some of your girlfriends having some laughs. Then one of them gets called out of the room. Then another. Then another; another one bites the dust. One by one all of your single girlfriends are leaving the waiting room and finding true love. Not only are your friends leaving you, but the rest room seems to empty out significantly. And then there’s you. --...

Being Content

Content, As christian women we here that word more times than we can count, especially in a season of waiting. Content is defined as,   pleased and satisfied : not needing more.  Have you been in a season in your life where your feel like you are just waiting? Waiting for a new job, waiting for things to get better, waiting for marriage, etc. Whatever you are waiting for, sometimes it just seems like it's taking forever just like a long line at the grocery store.  When I think about being content, my thoughts instantly go to being content in my singleness. How many times have we heard the cliche lines like "just wait, God's got it" said by well meaning people, only to make you feel worse. There was a time in my life where it was so hard to hear all of those lines without just wanting to cry, because like I said it made me feel worse rather than better.  That is when I would get discontent in waiting,  sometimes I feel like i am in this never...
