Wise Ladies Seek Him

Founders Note: Today on the blog we have our Monthly Contributor Buife.  Today's post was previously written and meant for an earlier month this year but somehow I missed it. But no worries because I definitely am making sure you ladies get to read these wonderful words from your sister today. Enjoy! - Hillary

Psalm 14:1 says: The [empty-headed] fool has said in his heart, there is no God. (Amp.)
When Jesus was born, some astrologers from the east of Judea, having seen the rising of His star, came to Jerusalem to seek Him. Some translations refer to these astrologers as wise men. The bible calls the man who says there is no God a fool; and we're told these 'wise men' journeyed to Jerusalem of Judea to seek Jesus because they believed that somewhere in that town, the King of the Jews was. Ladies, this is wisdom. We cannot claim to be really seeking for Someone if we have doubts concerning His existence. God's standard principle remains that if anyone would come near to Him, he/she MUST believe that He exists and that He rewards those who earnestly and diligently seek Him. (Hebrews 11:6)

When we seek God, what should be our intents? We will be learning together from the story of our wise men. [Matthew 2:1-12]

1. To Worship Him [Matthew 2:2, 11a]. Ladies who are wise seek God; they live their daily lives in loving and humble submission to the Lord Jesus Christ. They price Him above all else and think very highly of Him. The wise men "fell down and worshipped" Jesus when they saw Him. This too should be our response to Him when we come in contact with Him. We must learn to revere the Lord.

The first Commandment God gave to the Israelites was "you shall have no other gods before Me or besides Me" [Deuteronomy 5:7]. To worship Him requires a stripping off of everything and/or everyone that is/are contending for His place in our lives; it requires only two words, from us to Him -- Yes Lord!

2. To Open Our Treasure Bags [Matthew 2:11b]: Ladies, we must lay it all out. Jesus said we are to love the Lord our God with all of our heart, mind, soul and strength. (Luke 10:27). Someone who laid it all out for Him was Mary [Mark 14:3; Luke 7:37-38; John 11:2] and we will do well to learn from her. Don't hold back your gold, silver, your precious oil; heck, don't even hold back your career, your relationships, your assets from Him! We must lay it all down at His feet. We must so desire to have Him such that it no longer matters what we have to lose and/or let go to achieve this. [Philippians 3:6-11].

3. To Wait On Him [Matthew 2:12a]: The bible records that the men were divinely instructed in a dream. I know that for one to be dreaming, such a person must be asleep (otherwise it's a trance). If the astrologers dreamt, that means they took time to sleep and find rest in the Presence of the Lord. They tarried.

Wise ladies are never in a hurry to leave the Presence of the Lord. They love to sit at His feet and learn of Him, understand Him, His ways and thoughts (which are higher than ours) and His precepts. David wrote that He made His ways of righteousness and justice known to Moses, and His acts and works to the children of Israel (Psalm 103:7). Between Moses and the Israelites, who spent quality time with God? Moses! Find time to be with the Lord; make out time to be taught of Him and be divinely instructed as well.

4.  To Follow Him [Matthew 2:12b]: Having being warned in a dream not to go back to Herod, they departed by a different way.

The wise also will hear and increase in learning, and the person of understanding will acquire skill and attain to sound counsel [so that he may be able to steer his course rightly]. [Proverbs 1:5, Amp.]

By reason of the divine instruction the wise men received, they took a different course. They obeyed the directives the Lord God gave them.

Today, God has gifted each of us - His daughters, with His Spirit; and as many as follow the leading of the Holy Spirit are His daughters [Romans 8:14]. Once He called them to follow Him, Simon Peter, Andrew, James and John left everything behind and followed Him. It's called reckless abandon!

Ladies, as we begin our journey into this new year, let us be resolute to earnestly and diligently seek the Lord; primarily to worship Him, to offer to Him all that we are and have, to wait on Him and to recklessly and selflessly follow Him.

If you've ever heard a group of people share their testimonies, a lot of them have a common thread: brokenness. A lot of now believers had to come to a very low point in their lives before they had their breaking moment of calling out to Jesus. Have you ever wondered why that is? Why is it that so many of us have to hit rock bottom before we'll realize our infinite need for a Savior? I don't know the answer to that question, but I do know that in my darkest moments, I've seen the Lord hand out grace and turn brokenness into beauty. We all tend t...

(you can find the link below) We've just discovered Brooke's blog and we look forward to unwrapping more of the great wisdom she has to share. Without further ado, here is her post... Imagine, if you will, that you are in a waiting room. The room is crowded; people standing, people on chairs, people sitting on the floor; this room is totally packed full. And all of these people are waiting. Waiting for what you may ask? That’s simple; love. You are standing in a corner with some of your girlfriends having some laughs. Then one of them gets called out of the room. Then another. Then another; another one bites the dust. One by one all of your single girlfriends are leaving the waiting room and finding true love. Not only are your friends leaving you, but the rest room seems to empty out significantly. And then there’s you. --...
