Seeking God's Will

Founders Note: Today on the blog we have are monthly contributor Meg sharing her heart on this month's theme Seeking God. You can learn more about Meg and her blog on the about page.

Do you ever feel stuck, searching for God’s will on something?

Maybe it’s a job situation, to take a promotion, or not to take a promotion.

Or a move to a new place.

What courses to study at school?

I think a lot of times we allow ourselves to maybe hide behind the idea that we’re “seeking God’s will” on something… but when really, God can move in whatever we do.

Yes, God can be and many times is involved in very seemingly minute details of our lives, but sometimes, God seems to sit back and let us have more free will and do what we think is best.

The key to those times, when it feels like God is being more silent, is to remember the truth that He speaks through scripture. We know from verses like  2 Thessalonians 3:5 that  the Lord directs our hearts. “May the Lord rdirect your hearts to the love of God and to the steadfastness of Christ.”

Sometimes seeking God in the midst of hard times doesn’t have to be a clear, word from “above” thing. Sometimes it’s resting in the truth you’ve always known about him. The steadfastness of Christ.

As long as you’re walking along your path in the right direction, God can and will use whatever situation you’re in to further his Gospel.

Don’t get bogged down in making the right decisions or finding his exact will for something. Remember… He doesn’t need you. You need Him.

  1. This was a really timely word of encouragement for me! We just made the decision to buy a house, and there was a lot of praying and wondering but not a lot of hearing. We feel peace about the decision, but signing up to pay $100,000 for the next 15-30 years is kind of a decision that you want to hear from God more concretely on. lol. But I remember that God uses all things for good. Regardless of the decisions we make, when we set our hearts to pursue Him, He'll use whatever circumstance we are in.
This post, especially this line "Don’t get bogged down in making the right decisions or finding his exact will for something. Remember… He doesn’t need you. You need Him." Was so reassuring of that. Like you said, turn back to the faithful truth of Christ.
    Thanks!
